Very good coconut chicken soup! Smile Jun 27, 2015

lol I had business lunch here and we just ordered the set lunches.  They are pretty good actually especially the appetizers.  First came the spring rolls and then the vermicelli salad.  Main we have coconut chicken soup, pork belly curry, broccoli with dried scallop and cod fillets. The coconut chicken soup is great and with very immense coconut flavour, and the vermicelli salad is also very good because the flavour all went to the vermicelli.

However the pork belly curry is not tender enough and the curry taste is too strong to cover all other flavour.  Broccoli with dried scallop is good but it appeared to be a Chinese dish instead of Thai.

Dessert is great with glutinous rice and mango.  Mango is very sweet and the coconut sauce on the glutinous rice mixed very well.

Service is good.  Waitresses are quite smart to refill water before we asks to, and they could let us know clearly what these dishes are.  We will come here again.  ;)

Nice surprise! Smile Jun 20, 2015

madmad It's a nice surprise as a French restaurant away from city centre and people would doubt its authenticity as a French restaurant especially in an Arab hotel.  However, it didn't let me down.

The crispy pork belly is well made with thin crispy skin and juicy meat, though the bottom of it is slightly dry.  It matched nicely with the mashed potato to balance its complicated taste. The meat is tender and gives a good contrast to the crispy skin.  Highly recommended.

Foie gras terrine is good and the combination of it with the slightly sweet brioche is cool especially matching them with a glass of red wine.

Frog legs are good and it's so special to serve in a pot, matched with the chessy and tomato sauce.  However when it is served if the backbone of the frog is excluded it would be better as its too difficult to eat it with fork and knife.

It's a very nice surprise in the Arab area for such an authentic French restaurant.  Also the service is attentive and the waiter and waitresses are quick to give appropriate response.  Only thing to criticize is how to place the cutlery on the table.

chopsticklollol It is so contemporary and when I just went there I thought it serves western cuisines, not until I saw the sake in the store.

The mixed style of Japanese food gives traces of modern taste to The Refinery.  The high ceiling made the whole place very comfortable.

Although it's yakitori supposedly the main role of the restaurant, it's salted egg onion rings are unforgettable.  If the yakitori is a smaller bite sizes it would be almost perfect.  The small untraditional ramen is also very delicious.

The waiters are also very smart and fast.  Great.

lol The hand drip coffee is never disappointing.  Right temperature and full bodied coffee.

If the softee on the hot cakes are cooler it would be good because it could give more contrasting feeling in your mouth.  What I like is that they are not overly sweet and I really like the choice of syrup.  As this outlet is still new we don't need to queue as its Plaza Singapura outlet.

Never let me down Smile Jun 15, 2015

bowlchopsticklolThis time we tried 夫妻肺片 and 海蜇頭 and they both taste very good as appetizers.  夫妻肺片 is slightly different from what we used to have in China.  It's with less sauce but the taste is still v immense and with good texture.  Not overly soft but not chewy.  Jelly fish mixed very well with sesame oil with chopped chives and they are v crispy.

東坡肉 is as good as it used to be.  It's not fatty although it could have a more melty texture.  The daily soup we have is yellow cucumber soup.  In fact it tastes like winter melon soup which is quite unexpected.  Crispy fish skin on veggie is good and the fish skin is crispy and you won't find any flour on it.

擔擔麵 is a little bit disappointed.  Too much noodles and not enough soup.  A bit too dry.  It it could have more sauce esp peanut sauce it'd give a lot more flavour to it.  Instead 酸辣粉 gives an unexpected nice surprise.

Of course the dessert 枸杞豆腐花 is it's signature dish which you should not miss.

It's always a good place for dinner at reasonable price given the quality of food it provides.  The view is a bonus.  What I have to show my gratitude is the good service of the waiters.  They are always smart and whenever you show them some gestures they know what you need without coming up and ask what you're looking for.  Great!
