Fu Xiang Kitchen - Koufu Cry Jul 29, 2013

Categories : Food Court

I brought my nieces to watch movie at West Mall and we ate at the food court. I ordered Stir Fried Onion Pork with Rice.
The pork was tender and soft but the sauces , my goodness it's way too salty! I had to mix it in with more ordered rice from other stall's dishes to "neutralize.
Generous amount of onions and other condiments though. One thing I wasn't too happy about was the rude aunty staff kept asking me what I want and interrupted me again before I could even state my order?? after that she was slow in getting the dish done and delivered. What a pity, would have potential in the dish if only she fixed her attitude.

Go Chicken Rice Cry Jul 29, 2013

Categories : Food Court

Just curious about whether the ingredient they use in FoodFare food court came from Fairprice because the food here is very cheap. I went to Go Chicken Rice at Anchorvale, takeaway Roasted Chicken Rice (there’s still discount if you show them your NTUC member card.)
The rice is fluffy but unfortunately doesn’t have the strong chicken fragrance.
Chicken is dry and tough, most likely due to it overcooked.
Overall verdict, although it’s cheap but it’s not tasty and you’ll be paying more for quantity than quality.

Fragrant Hot Pot Cry Jul 29, 2013

Categories : Sichuan | Food Court | Steamboat/Hot Pot

This is my first time trying Fragrant Hot Pot, we have to pick the ingredients that we want and then pass the picked items and let them weight and charge accordingly; I took chicken, pork, black fungus, lotus, toufu, etc. They cooked the stuff that we pick in a SUPER spicy, oily, sauces. I can't even feel my tongue as it’s spicy to the point that it’s numbing. So best eat it with plenty of rice.

Tiffany Cafe Cry Jul 28, 2013

Categories : Malay | Multi-Cuisine | Hotel | High Tea | Halal | Buffet

Met up with a friend in the area after I was booking a holiday at ASA Chinatown.

Before entering the run-down looking hotel which has seen better days, looking around in this café there weren’t much variety and they served mostly local delights. Based off individual preference some people may find this place cosy.

I took the fluffy rice which was interestingly brown/white fried rice, and this is considered a healthier option, unfortunately was bland without much effort to mix additional sufficient ingredients to enhance the taste. Penne (pasta) was overcooked and soggy possibly from it being left on the warmer for long periods of time. Beef rendang was soft and flavourful , but there weren’t enough as the replenishing intervals was slow. Prawns were averaged inconsistently between fresh and leftovers which nobody wanted.

Desserts selection was disappointing for me as the cakes were either too dry or tasted like thawed frozen cakes.

Cookies, Fruits and Marshmallows in Chocolate fondue was my only favourite , despite little choices , the chocolate they used tasted of great premium quality.

I was over at Vivo City with my hubby for a charity hair shaving event in support for Children Cancer Foundation. Decided to get a quick snack before the quick shave.

I ordered mixed economical rice. Stir fried Brocolli and Cauliflower were cold, and a little soggy , portion was little in ratio to the rice. Gravy coating the vegetable was gooey from the lack of heat that keeps the food “freshly warm”. So it was a little disgusting. Potatoes and sausages were cold as well! Potatoes would have tasted alright if it were preserved in heat. Sausage tasted alright except for the temperature. Then came the sweet and sour fish which for a change was warm because as I ordered it was fresh out of the kitchen. Crispy, but batter and meat inside was “kosong” (empty). Rice, was also cold. Overall a disappointing meal especially when it costs $4.70 and I easily would have eaten 2 perfect tasting sets for that amount elsewhere.
