Categories : Hawker Centre

Date : 2012-11-13
Time of visit : 8.15pm
What/Where : Tiong Bahru Jian Bo Shui Kueh @ Bedok Interchange Food Centre
What we had : Chwee Kueh
Average cost/pax : $1.10
Ambience : Crowded/noisy. This place has always been the same since I first stepped here in the 90s.This place has provided hundreds of residents in the area their daily meals and take-aways.Old drunk uncles chit chatting happily away with their pals and the hawkers themselves. Some may find this place a little "dirty" but it's more because of the lack of "manpower" to clean it up as people come, dine, and go real quick. It's quite hot at times just like the other hawker centres.
Service : Prompt delivery upon payment. Auntie seems to be in a bad mood cos someone ordered but didn't collect/pay.Guess who became the punching bag. sad
Portion : Chwee Kueh was a little stale and sticky, look at the dried rims, it's like eating plastic! The chai poh was oily and burnt. I told auntie I want the chilli to be put one side, she just chucked one stack of chilli on one of the 4 like bweh song (not happy) like that. Sian. Auntie, someone ruin your day pls repay back to them, don't pay it forward. This experience could be an isolated incident due to her mood, but I was very observant and polite with my words and tone when I ordered.
Location : It's at Bedok Interchange. Super convenient. As of the current date , the area is under heavy renovation especially the car park. I believe they're building new bigger ones. So there's limited lots.
What's good in particular : Nothing.
What's bad in particular : Everything.

Categories : Food Court | Noodles

Time of visit : 2.40pm
What we had : Wanton Spinach Noodles
Average cost/pax : $5.00/ 1 pax
Ambience : Normal food court ambience. Busy during lunch hour, quieter after that. Airconditioned.
Service : Fast delivery upon payment.
Portion : The rubberband texture of the noodle is not to my liking. It's greasy on the outside and little is "absorbed" into the noodle nor meat. Charsiew is very dry. Just too bad it doesn't taste as good as it looks. Well presented though as seen on photo. pretty expensive too as I've easily eaten $2 / $3 Charsiew Wanton Mee better than this.
Location : Katong I12 previously known as Katong Mall to some of us 80s/90s people has upgraded their carpark and there's usually many lots there (except weekends) , make sure you enter by East Coast Road, and not the TGIF side, the guards will re-route you or tell you no entry.
What's good in particular : Presentation.
What's bad in particular : Taste. Unjustified cost.

Time of visit : 12pm
What we had : Bean Paste Pork Hor Fun, Chic Dry Noodle, Salted 7up and grassjelly dessert
Average cost/pax : $33 for 2
Ambience : Nice comfy seats; get to do some people watching too.
Service : Food was served up fast, however servers were not responsive to the work flow as they were chitchatting among themselves.
Taste : Hor Fun wasn't fantastic, just edible. Dry noodle tasteless; dessert must try!
Location : It's in town; convenient.
What's good in particular : Spacious
What's bad in particular : Wanted to try one of their signature dish but they don't have it (LUNCH TIME ???)

What we had : Ice Gula Melaka Kopi, Soursop Freeze, & Bandung Soda
Time Of Visit : 9pm
Average cost/pax : $16 for 3
Ambience : Bright and clean
Service : A bit disappointing as our order was forgotten.
Portion : Personally find the drinks too sweet; don't recommend Bandung Soda (Rose syrup + soda)
What's good in particular : Good place for chit chat session
What's bad in particular : They serve durian pengat so non-durian lovers may not accept the overpowering smell.
