Lychee cake no more Cry May 20, 2013

Categories : Bakery | Desserts and Cakes

Top of the list: they are well known for their lychee cake.

It used to be so good! That was many years ago, more than 5 yrs probably? Or more..

The cake used to be fluffy and there is a distinct lychee taste. Been eating it for years until..... they have more customers and the standard drop... the taste of the lychee is very mild and the cake has a different taste.. different baker??

Worst food i've ever eaten in my entire life.

Not sure how does the long Q form, cant imagine how people eat such food?

The service wasnt good either, the waitress slammed our drinks on the table.

I ordered the soup and my friend decided to take the challenge of ordering the ultra big burger.

The soup was diluted and when i asked the waitress for a new bowl, she's not happy. While my friend is an easy person when it comes to food, he couldnt finish the burger, the bun was hard and the patty is overcooked.

First and last time. I thought the safest thing on the menu to order was the root beer float. But no. The vanilla ice cream they used was too sweet.............unsatisfying meal.

Not good and expensive Cry May 02, 2013

Had a really good experience at the Tiong Bahru's branch and was quite glad that they opened one at Raffles City as Tiong Bahru is not that accessible.

Perhaps i have already set a high standard of the pastries - the famous croissant at this branch is not as good as Tiong Bahru's. The price is more expensive too.

Thought that i will give other pastries a try, but unfortunately, it is not as good as the ones at Tiong Bahru. Disappointing.

Perhaps the money is going towards the decor instead.

The second macaron i've eaten in my entire life was the one from Laduree Paris where one of my friends happily bought some back. It was generous of her as it is not cheap. It was very sweet and i remembered that i didnt finish one.

The ones in Singapore has slightly lesser sugar, but it is still too sweet for my liking. Out of all the flavors, pistachio is the safest to eat for the fussy foodies. However, it has a different texture compared to the ones straight from Paris as it didnt crumble when i bite onto it. The macarons from Paris crumbles easily and it melts fast. But surprisingly, the ones from Singapore stays the same despite the weather.

Strange....

Food is for display only Cry Apr 09, 2013

The fruit tarts are such darlings at the display. Plus the ongoing hype among the non foodies.

But one bite on it made me cringed, it is sugar overload. Then the set with the tea makes more sense, its to compliment to tart?

Lesser sugar for the tart might be better as the fruits they use are already sweet. I still look at the display from time to time but i will not set my foot into the shop again.

Oh and the tarts are not cheap, although generous with the fruits but the taste is alot to me.
