As part of my effort to explore Icon Village, I found an affordable Chinese-themed shop – Old Kim Guan. Well-known of home-cooked cuisine, they really lived up their slogan: The Good Old Taste of Home Cooking. Casual-setting for the decoration, both tables and chairs were arranged neatly. Self-service basis, diners have to queue and order, then after that take our own food back to our seat.
Savoury Noodles
I had a mee kia, thin noodles, similar with stir-dried mee as usual. Dashes of minced pork and dried onion on top, the bowl was completely flavourful. What I wanted to emphasize was, the braised meat was fragrantly appetizing especially eating along with springy plain noodles. Slices of fish cake and pieces of lettuce were added inside, the combination was freshly delicious. Portion wise, it was generous and definitely filling for normal lunch. Price was stated on board, only $4.20 for my noodles. Would like to try their curry during next trip, my colleague highly recommended it to me. Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

Along a stretch of stalls in Koufu Foodcourt, I decided on Ma La Xiang Guo as I aimed something heavy flavour to live up my taste buds. Given the meaning of Fragrant Pot in English, diners may pick whatever dishes from a wide range selection. Serving pattern was quite special, instead of usual hot pot which dipping ingredients into the soup, the concept here was uniquely stir-fried them in a chilli-laden gravy. Queue was cleared fast, waiting time was not that long even lengthy lining up.
Shiok
I just simply picked some common ingredients such as Lunchie Meat, Sliced Fish, Cabbages, Lotus Roots and beans, they came out in pipping hot then. Final meal was eaten with rice, complimentary soup was served along too. Numbing spicy, the bowl was full of fiery hot dishes. Lunchie Meat was still tender, obviously no overcooked. While fish was fresh with thick slice flesh, veggies were crunchily bitten in mouth. Quite addictive after my first spoon, spiciness was tempting and well-accompanied plain rice. Average set meal was around $5.00, I have to say it was reasonable to have a filling feast. Table Wait Time: 0 minute(s)

Decided on Ajisen Ramen, it was conveniently located right next to the Cinema. Originated from Kumamoto in Japan, it was currently featured as top 10 Ramen in Singapore. Queue was not that long, we got our seat very soon. Served with extensive Menu, staffs were friendly with greetings upon we stepping in.
Flavourful Bowl
Full of savoury taste and the richness of soup were appealing, warm as well as hearty. Generous spicy minced pork poured on top, the bowl was redly yummy. Noodle was thinly made, tender while soft to shallow. Meat was a little fatty and a little mushy on the other side, I like also the decent well-marinated egg. Yet, I found the combination of cabbage in this Ramen was weird, should be replaced by beansprout to make it better, in my personal opinion. Portion was filling enough, price was completely reasonable if compared to others. Catered to local appetite, I will visit it again. Table Wait Time: 10 minute(s)

Visiting a casual while affordable Japanese restaurant which specialized Slow Charcoal Grilling method, it was totally trendy new dining edition for me. At Hamanoya, there was a wide range of fresh sashimi and also grilled delicacies with top freshness and quality. Comfy environment with proficient service, theme of décor was pretty and unique. All their condiments containers are cute and neat, definitely a fantastic dinning place.
Refresh Mix
We opted for healthier choice, of course the set included their signature grilled fish. Beautifully presented in a wooden boat platter, some pickles and Miso soup came along side by side. Colourful classic mix of sushi, the combination was appealing enough to attract my taste buds. Unfortunately, I found the fish was a little dry yet the sauce went well with sushi. I must say the Salmon was fresh, Tempura and Ramen did its part well. Overall was simple and enjoyable. Reasonable portion for reasonable price, it costed at $24.99. Sharing by two of us, it was satisfying meal indeed. Table Wait Time: 5 minute(s)

I had been Westgate during a relax weekends, although the district detached there was a little confusing but I quite like the good mix of restaurants along the path. Decided to try Chicken Hot Pot which was a franchise from Shanghai, it specialized in pot cuisines and steamboat. Pretty comfort dining environment, place was not too exaggerated yet spacious and bright. Menu provided with extensive choices, they also offered package in couple or ala-carte.
Yummy Sizzling
Basically, there are four kinds of Hot Pot available - Chicken, Prawns, Beef and Fish. While recommended, we opted for fish instead of chicken as Ryan was a spicy adverse. Smoky fragrance was appealing, soup was just nice and not too salty. Fish was fresh indeed, meat was tender as well. Portion was average, price was sensible too. Personally, I like this dish especially during rainy day, extra warm and whole-hearted feeling. Great experience to cheer out here, everything was flavourful and definitely gave a strong kick and heat. Dinner was a pleasant affair, and thanks their staffs for the good decent service.
