1. Irvin’s Live Seafood House | Upper Thomson Road
As one of the signature dishes here, Irvin’s salted egg crab definitely lives up to its reputation. The thick gravy is all the rave and ever since Irvin’s became aware of this, they’ve been selling just that to gravy addicts. It’s also pretty well-known that seafood here is quite cheap so don’t expect enormous, meaty crabs.

2. Mellben Food Palace | East Coast Parkway
A local brand that established itself way back in 1989, the Mellben name is synonymous with crab for obvious reasons – their crab bee hoon is pretty darn famous. That aside you can indulge in one awesome salted egg crab rendition here. Be prepared to wait about 30 minutes in line though!

3. Master Crab Seafood Restaurant | Ghim Moh Road
Ambience-wise, you can’t expect much from a tze char stall like Master Crab. It’s hot, it’s stuffy, and there is no air-conditioning. But you know what? The salted egg crab here makes up for all that it lacks. The extra fresh crabs and incredibly rich gravy make this contender a mighty one.

4. Owen Seafood Restaurant | The Grandstand
At Owen you can feast on some of the freshest live seafood you can find in Singapore. It’s a simple process – you pick the crab you want from the tank outside and they’ll prepare it any way you want. Apart from the fact that the seafood here’s also pretty affordable, people flock here for the salted egg crab and of course, at the end of the meal, spend time mopping up the amazing gravy with man tou buns.

5. Seafood Paradise | Singapore Flyer
Seafood Paradise serves crab in all sorts of styles, but besides the iconic white pepper crab, one must-try is definitely the salted egg flavour. The version here is a little drier than usual, but that’s probably not going to stop you from picking off the good bits and enjoying them.
