Singapore’s Must-try Cheese Creations
2013-07-29
It’s gooey, it’s yellow and it’s so very sinful – who doesn’t love cheese? You can’t call yourself a real cheese freak if you haven’t sampled these delectable creations so start your cheesy adventure today! The Western Classics 1. Cheeseburger
Where to find it: De Burg (Cheese Burger – $8.50 for small, $13.50 for large) We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: De Burg makes one of these best burgers in the country (check out our burger directory for more). Even their classic made-from-scratch cheeseburger is a real hit; this exquisite juicy beauty puts many other contenders to shame. 2. Cheese pizza
Where to find it: Rocky’s Pizza (Deluxe Cheese – 12”, $18) Rocky’s Pizza is arguably one of Singapore’s most underrated pizza brands. They don’t deliver to certain places in Singapore (actually quite a few) but that doesn’t stop us from paying them a visit at their Clementi outlet. It’s all about fat, thick pizzas and crazy layers of gooey cheese at Rocky’s, and that’s why we adore them. 3. Cheese sandwich Where to find it: Lime @ PARKROYAL on Pickering (Croque Monsieur – $22) It’s the French version of a holy cheese sandwich – a Croque Monsieur is made of layers and layers of gruyere cheese (the best kind), ham bits and the winning ingredient, buttery bechamel sauce. We’d never tasted anything so heavenly… until we tried Lime’s rendition of the Croque Monsieur. It’ll have you floating after just one bite. 4. Mac and cheese

Where to find it: The White Rabbit (The White Rabbit Mac and Cheese – $28) Here at The White Rabbit, plain mac and cheese is obviously just too mainstream. Their version of this classic American dish is a melting pot of various cheeses, al dente pasta and truffle sauce. Yeah, beat that. 5. Cheese fries
Where to find it: Best Fries Forever (Macho Cheese – $4.20 for regular) Cheese fries aren’t easy to get right. Most cheese sauces taste really weird and almost artificial. However, at Best Fries Forever (BFF), that’s not the case. Thick, creamy cheese sauce with fresh thick-cut fries – it doesn’t get any better than this. Oh, and they’re real generous with the sauces too! The Sweets 6. Cheesecake Where to find it: Kki Sweets (Souffle Cheese Cake – $6 per slice) While some may prefer heavier cheesecakes such as the New York Cheesecake, we do appreciate Japanese cheesecakes for their lightness, and there’s no doubt Kki at Ann Siang Hill does the best Japanese cakes in Singapore. The Souffle Cheese Cake here is a pure melt-in-your-mouth delight – comes in an 18cm size as well, perfect for birthdays! 7. Cheese brownie
Where to find it: The Baker’s Story (Signature Cheese Brownie – $2.10 per slice) Chocolate and cheese – these are two heavy ingredients that aren’t easy to combine. The talented bakers at The Baker’s Story however, have managed to do just that. The Signature Cheese Brownie is surprisingly light and doesn’t leave you feeling extra full (and slightly nauseous) after a bite or two. If you’re curious, check out the other flavours available such as Orange Cheese and Mint Cheese. 8. Cheese tart
Where to find it: Flor Patisserie (Ice Cheese Tart – $3.40 each) There’s something very addictive about Flor’s Ice Cheese Tarts and we can’t decide if it’s the almond cookie base or the lightly salted cream cheese filling. Comes in a variety of flavours: Original, Mango, Strawberry, Caramel, Choco Orange, Green Tea and Yuzu & Maple. The Asian Classics 9. Cheese prata Where to find it: The Roti Prata House (Cheese Prata – approx. $2 per piece) Even well past midnight, The Roti Prata House is forever packed with patrons, but we do understand why. They make darn good prata over here and the cheese prata is no exception. What we like is the fact that they don’t skimp on the cheese. Also, it’s not overly-greasy. Cheese too plain for you? Get the equally awesome Mushroom Cheese Prata – you won’t regret it. 10. Cheese tonkatsu
Where to find it: Tonkichi (Cheese Kasane Katsu – $29.90) We all love our fried goodies, especially tonkatsu. Deep-fried pork loin is one thing, but deep-fried pork loin with a layer of melted cheese in-between? That’s a whole new level of sin! All you need is a bowl of sticky, sweet Japanese rice and you’re good to go with this bad boy. See Also: Enjoy delectable desserts here Check out here for the best dining offers
