Surviving in Orchard: Spenders vs. Savers
2013-08-28
We feel that office workers in Orchard can often be categorised into two groups- the spendthrifts and the thrifty- so we've done a little research and have come up with a typical food day for an office worker at Orchard: Spender vs. Saver edition! SPENDER
Hi guys, I work in the Orchard road belt and am what would be considered a Spender. On a typical day, I can spend up to $40 for lunch because I strongly believe in eating quality food, even if they are at higher prices! Come along on my food journey today!

Happily settled in at Marmalade Pantry! An open-concept setting with a classy but chill vibe, they have gorgeous displays of their desserts and cupcakes; try their Nutella Cupcake ($4.20) or the Limonta ($4.20) for some sweet goodness, or the Sea Salt Caramel Cheesecake ($7.80), which combines a light cheesecake with subtle sea salt caramel flavours- simply sublime!
I'm here for the mains though; I like Marmalade Pantry for their good food- their pastas are al dente and their mains flavourful. What I chose today was the Pan Roasted Red Snapper ($28.00)- herb-crusted and lying crisp on a bed of hearty ratatouille, the fish was done just nice and it’s flesh firm and fresh. A very enjoyable meal indeed!
Feeling slightly sleepy, I also went for an affogato ($9.00) to indulge in a little caffeine. A large scoop of vanilla ice cream with a strong and fragrant shot of espresso, it was the perfect combination of bitter-sweetness and definitely woke me up! I was hankering for some snacks, so off I went to Marks and Spencer. Marks and Spencer is like heaven to me, offering a huge selection of cookies, snacks and other groceries, it makes grocery/food shopping so much more fun!
Decided to go with a selection of cookies- the Chocolate rounds are super addictive, I can finish a whole box in a day! Good news for my tummy, bad news for my waistline! :/ The Chocolate chip cookies are really good too; big and thick instead of the small measly ones from other supermarkets, and there are huge chunks of chocolate embedded in each cookie! Extremely Chocolately Mini Bites from Marks and Spencer- $14.90 All Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies from Marks and Spencer- $10.90
I couldn't resist getting the animal biscuits too- don't they look so cute? Makes eating them so much more fun! Mini Animal Biscuits from Marks & Spencer- $4.30
And in case I get sleepy again later, I have my Percy in a twist sweets! Coming in sour strips, they provide a little tang to wake me up! Percy in a Twist from Marks & Spencer- $4.30 Marks & Spencer Wheelock Place, 501 Orchard Road #01-01 S 238880 Mon to Thurs: 1000 – 2200 Fri & Sat: 1000 – 2300 Sun: 1000 - 2200 See Also: Indulge in your sweet tooth with these chocolate treats Enjoy delectable desserts here
