Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks

Recently it has gone through an update in its menu. Improvement has been made in the old dishes. There has been an additional dish of Crispy Salt Pepper Mushroom ($2.80) which is available in 4 different flavours : Seaweed, Sour Cream, Wasabi and Kimchi. Currently Shihlin Taiwan Street Snack is celebrating their 10 Year Anniversary. A contest card will be given with minimum $5 purchase. Collect all 10 cards will win the grand prize.The Sour Plum Potato Fries ($2.80) is now bigger in pieces compared to last time. One can really tastes the sweet and soft sweet potato. The Handmade Oyster Mee Sua ($3.80) now has lots of shredded chicken and big juicy oysters on top. But the XXL Crsipy Chicken ($3.80) still not crispy enough. The crispy skin peels off easily from the meat.Overall the food still got hits and miss. Service still quite poor, as the staff do not really take note who order first. Snacks before going home, I fallen in love with Taiwan Street Food. I knew that it was unhealthy, yet I was craving for it.Famous of Taipei’s Nightmarket munchies, it was wonderful to have it. Not necessary to fly to Taiwan, you may easily to find it at Shi Lin’s Kiosk.Huge and tender piece of boneless chicken breast, it was well-marinated and coated with imported flour. Nana has bought a packet of the 超大雞排 XXL Crispy Chicken for $3.50 on the way home. The large, tender and succulent piece of boneless chicken breast, coated with flour and fried to a golden crisp. A special blend of oriental spices and chilli powder is sprinkled on top of the crust, and the chicken is cut to bite sized pieces before being packed. Shared this with colleagues for snack. To be honest, if I were to consume it alone, I would have asked for extra spicy. I tried that once, and my whole chicken breast is covered with the chili powder, completely. Only I could take the level of spicy as it was super duper spicy. But because of the excess chili powder, the chicken tastes a little bit to the bitter side, which I don't really mind.Ok, now, let's look at this normal, flavored a little with chili powder and pepper (one of my colleagues can't take spice). So, you can actually taste the chicken breast freshness and the juice with so little spices added into it. To be honest, you can only really taste the food if the ingredients or condiments is at it's minimum or none. The chicken is not as fleshy but tender and smooth. For $3.80 per bowl, the serving of noodle is quite small and perfect for an afternoon snack. One of the stall's highlight and a popular taiwan xiao chi or small snack, the mee sua or fine mee is soaked in sauce. Finely sliced boiled chicken and a few pieces of oysters are added to eat serving. The sauce is not too sweet or salty and blends well with the noodle. I seems to think all of their food variety are all very super nice Today i had the Mushroom cheese egg crepe which is really to die for There wasn't a crowd when i went since its a weekday afternoon. And the guy whom made it for me seems generous which i realise when i got home When i open it up the crepe look so tasty! Today's labour day holiday, so many people around! Went to takeaway Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks back home :) There's quite a number of people around, long queue! I bought the Handmake oyster mee sua However i don't eat oysters, so i always get the staff to omit that. They will very nicely give you more chicken shreds in replacement which i find this service very good Luckily when i brought it home, it was still pipping hot when i open it up to eat. This Taiwanese all time flavourite snacks is well like by Singaporeans. The chicken cutlet is really big in portion and has been coated with bread crumbs before deep frying. It is very crispy outside and the meat inside is very juicy, tender and not too hard. One of the highlight to these chicken cutlets are they actually topped with some spicy chilli flakes which added some spicyness to it. I stopped by Shihlin for a snack, I have always been their sees food tempura fan. This time I saw some crepes on the menu, so I decided to try out the cheese & mushroom crepes. It costed about 3.5 $. They took a while to prepare it, then packed it in a box,topped some sauce on it & gave it as a take away. I immediately tasted it, the crepe was nice and crispy. Shihlin's fried chicken is one of the best for street snacks in Singapore, and I recently patronised the store. This is good for sharing, as a snack, or just to comfort yourself The skin is fried to a crispy texture, then shaken with chiili and spice powder, then off to the cutting of many pieces in 1 bag. It's piping hot when it's ready, and when you eat it at that exact moment, all your senses will all come alive.
