第一次來新加士坡試螃蟹，經朋友介紹來這一間，下午六點鐘左右到，坐在門口，可能下午下了雨关係，完全沒有暑熱感。回到正題，厨房師傅的厨藝很好，很多菜式都烹煮出其獨特味道，我們一行7人，點了黑椒榜蟹和奶油榜蟹共九道小菜，相對較出色為奶油榜蟹，在汁醬上加上少許微辣提鮮而消減油膩，加上脆炸饅頭為之一絕，蟹肉豐富新鮮，唯一扣分為斯里蘭卡蟹肉肉味不足。而黑椒螃蟹並沒有想像中的辛辣，剛入口時只有微量黑椒辣味感覺， 及後黑椒的香辣味慢慢滲入味蕾，但黑椒汁的味道與饅頭唔夾 ,所以沒有用漫頭點黑椒汁食， 但十分喜愛黑椒味慢慢從味蕾滲出來的感覺。如果喜歡素食的話，推介炸豆腐，豆腐內嫩外脆，無論賣相食味道一流。最重要的事 並不會用重味精嚟調味，所以食完並未有多飲水都不覺得口渴，這正是廚師做出嚟應有的高水準廚藝，而香港的餐廳酒樓很多師傅都用重重味精提升鮮味。食完埋單才三百七十多坡紙元落樓。 但要注意的事項，是埋單的時候，看清楚自己的帳單和自己所點的菜式才結帳。 至於點解會推介，我們一行七人， 因為行程關係 ，下午三點多才午飯完畢， 六點鐘多啲再次晚飯， 除了淨下雞煲裏的少許雞肉，檯裡面的食物全部清掉，已經不言而喻。…Read More

Honestly the food here is good. Of course it's not cheap but not crazy-Jumbo prices either. The items that we're oh-so-good were:1) Crab in Broth - we paid for extra Beehoon and soup and it's super worth it! The broth was thick with favour and the crab, tho not huge, was fresh. The flesh came apart nicely  and easily. Indication of freshness to me. Easily best dish of the night. 2) Guinness Pork Ribs - very well marinated ribs with excellent taste. Doesn't taste like Guinness at all. Very very tasty dish. 3) Broccoli with Beancurd Skin & Mushrooms - it's essentially a very simple dish but don't very very nice!4) Creamy Butter prawns - it's really prawn in thick salted eggs sauce. What's NOT to like?! Large fresh prawns in savory sauce! Visited the famous Crab place nearby my house, Melben Seafood was always the resturant I crave for. Be prepared for the waiting time, the business was extremely good. Service was prompt and accurate without any delay, environment was cozy and airy. This was the first dish served, shiny veggies with garlic looked delicious. Familiar home-style frying, the taste was decent and straightforward. Well, the plate was too many mushrooms on top. Starchy gravy with healthy Tofu, it was silky smooth and crispy at skin. Not really like mushrooms, I ate only Tofu. The favourite dish I found was the Crab, other things were average only. Butter creamy gravy leaved me licking my finger, I was totally lost my image. A treat from a friend and we are near Toa Payoh so he suggested to go over there for dinner. About 5 mins we are shown to our seats in the open space. My friend ordered crab bee hoon, chilli crab, mushroom with veggie and cereal prawn. I love the crab bee hoon, soup very sweet and the crab really fresh. Chilli crab was good as well, cereal prawn very normal and as for veggie good as well love the mushroom combination! We visited Mellben Seafood for a taste of their famous claypot crab bee hoon. We went to their branch at Toa Payoh instead of the main restaurant at AMK. We arrived before 6pm for dinner and were able to find seats, but when dinner crowd comes, do expect to wait.Perhaps I was setting my expectations too high, but I was not very impressed with the Claypot crab bee hoon served. I did enjoy slurping on the smooth noodles with the rich creamy crab broth for the first few mouthfuls, but I did find the soup a little too salty for my liking subsequently. It's actually our second visit to this outlet! My family ordered exactly the same food when we went there during CNY. In our opinion, the food actually taste similar to the outlet in AMK... The crabs are still good and yummy.. However, when we went on Sunday, the crabs were a little smaller than usual... But it was still very good :) The outlet has more tables upstairs, and much cleaner than sitting downstairs. As for their service, it is pretty okay. I headed down to Mellben at Toa Payoh as I knew that the original one at AMK will be a long wait. My friend told me that there is two floors at this outlet and the upper floor was air-con'ed. I called up in the afternoon for a table with friends at 7pm, I asked for the upper floor with the air con. Upon reaching, I was disappointed:( that firstly there was no table ready resulting in a 20 mins wait and that the person at the other end did not take down my request and we ended up with a table out in the open. As usual, there is no price listed on its menu. The auntie keep pressurizing us to order more crabs and when we decided that 2 x 1kg crabs are enough for a table of 8, she showed a black face. She subsequently recommended us a chicken dish and said it is a must try without telling us the price. When the dish came, we were shock it is not so much a chicken but a "Pen-Chai" that cost almost a hundred bucks! A simple dinner ended up with a hole in our pocket due to bad service and borderline cheat tendency from the staff. The crab at this branch is also not as good as the one at AMK!! We visit Melben Seafood occasionally especially when we are craving for crab. Usually we will order chilli crab, egg yolk crab, or the crab bee hoon that this place is famous for. However, when we visited the restaurant the other day, the staff highly recommended us to try their new flavour, the White Pepper crab. It was the first time I tried this flavour, it's not as peppery as black pepper crab, but it's more on a creamy side. The gravy itself is so tasty to go with white rice. Yummy! …Read More

Heard many good reviews about this place, but also heard that the standard drop as compared to last time. But i am unable to comment on that since it's my first time trying. It was quite good for me, have got the fresh crab with beehoon and soup in a claypot. Helps to keep the food warm for a period of time. Went there with friend for dinner. We waited about half hour before we were handed the menu and advised to order while waiting for a table. We chose the highly recommended claypot crab with bee hoon, butter crabs, tapioca leaves fried in sambal and chicken meat wrapped in otah. The butter crabs were first to be served and at one glance, we wondered whether we made the right choice instead of the usual black pepper or chillie crabs. The crabs were covered with this yellowish cream and decorated with two small corianders. But dipping one small man tou ( deep fried bun ) into the sauce and the strong butter gravy fried with curry leaves was fantastically sinful but delicious. The fried tapioca leaves were superb spicy and goes well with the rice. Next, fried chicken meat thinly sliced with otah stuffed in the middle. It was crispy and the combination blended well too. The main star attraction claypot bee hoon was finally served. The buttery taste of the soup was unique and flooded with sweetness from the crabs. If you like the famous crab bee hoon in AMK but dislike the never ending queue, this will be a quick fix for you. The branch at Toa Payoh is less crowded but quality is pretty much the same as that or sometimes better than the main outlet.The crab bee hoon here is as usual the main dish but I also love the sharks fin soup . Dishes to try out will be the Seafood Tofu and also Salad Prawns. After trying out both outlets food, we still prefer AMK outlet. Maybe different chef cooks different quality.
