The instant the hot congee met the raw egg, most of the egg white is cooked but leaving the yolk raw. My favorite moment was when I broke the yolk and mixed into the congee. Immediately, the congee turned from a boring pale white into a energetic yellow!Back to their congee, they provided a wide range of variety from pork to seafood. Firstly, they made the stock with bones then slow cooked the congee for hours till every grain had been broke down. Lots of effort is needed to cook a good congee because of the long hours of stirring to prevent congee from sticking at the bottom. However, the liver was overcooked and there were only few slices of pork. continue reading

Talking about the Congee, you should try out this. Just tell them your table number, they will served you when the food was ready. This was possibly the best Congee at Toa Payoh. Hot, smooth, silky and you may able to taste the savour bits of rice. The minced pork and meat ball were fresh, complementing the full flavour of the porridge. So as to the raw egg, I stirred then the egg mixed up together with the porridge. Added dough stick, it was perfect. $3.00 for my Congee, the price was fair. continue reading

I came here for their porridge today. I have not eaten their porridge for months. Ordered their chicken porridge, add 50cent for an egg.Their porridge is a very big bowl, big portion, worth the money. Porridge was smooth, with many chicken slices, this time their you tiao is big & crispy. Today's waiting time is a bit long, they took 20mins. Do note that they don't open on Mondays. continue reading

This stall sells lots of different types of porridge and i would say it's like hong kong porridge as its smooth and watery and whatever type you order, they will serve you with a complimentary piece of yu tiao!I love the prawn porridge and i think the more than 10 times that we had eaten from this stall, the quality of the porridge and ingredients never disappoint me once. The prawns are always big, fresh and tasty,so is the fish porridge and the minced meat porridge as well as the liver which is always cooked just right, tender and soft and juicy but yet you don't see blood in the liver.Highly recommended stall for porridge lover. continue reading
