Spotted Big Brother Bak Kut Teh when I was having dinner from the Zi Char Stall the other day. Though I will prefer the black version (Hokkien) of Bak Kut Teh, I still decided to give them a try after seeing most of the patrons were having them for dinner,Big Brother Bak Kut Teh is easily spotted if at the left if you are facing the coffeeshop (Hakerway). The stall is spacious and well organized. Place is easily accessible especially when there is ample of parking spaces.Have a choice of a bowl of Mee Sua at $1 or White Rice at $0.50 to pair with the Cantonese fare.4 pieces of Bak Kut in the clear soup with garlic over them. Just as I was informed, the soup looked clear but was more on the spicy side, for those who cannot take much spice, this will be a little challenging for you.The bowl of lean meat was rather straight forward, filled with the same clear soup, generous serving of lean meat and lettuce. Overall, I will say that the food is not bad in Bukit Batok Area but definitely not the best in Singapore. Waiting time is about 10 - 15 minutes after ordering during Dinner time. continue reading

this is not one of the best bak kut tehs in singapore but for neighbourhood standard, it is not bad already and worth a try if you are staying around the area! the shop has a very neat and organized look which makes it look professional. they cook it on the spot when you order. 4 pork meat costed $5 and soup is refillable also. the soup tasted rather peppery. meat was tender, even more tender than the pork ribs ($7.50) that my friend had ordered. service was quite fast too. continue reading

There was a slight peppery taste and it was surprisingly tasty. I would say this bak kut teh was tastier than the average bak kut tehs. As it was less peppery, it brought out the goodness of the bak kut teh. At $5, it was also a good value for today's price. The pork ribs were tender and juicy. There were 4 short ribs in total. There are also other side dishes to go with which are reasonably priced. continue reading

Yes, as the title suggests, the bak kut teh here is GOOD! Quite reasonable pricing, especially since this is just a coffeeshop. The soup is great, strong in flavor and quite peppery and spicy. The most fascinating thing is the size of the ribs. Big and long and meaty. We ordered the pork knuckle to share as well. There was not much fats. Meat was very tender and well marinated. The serving is quite generous, especially since there were quite a lot of meat (as opposed to some other stalls whose pork knuckle consists mainly of bones and fats). Next up is the kidney. Cooked and cleaned nicely, no bad smell or taste. I did not quite like the soup though, as the bak kut teh tasted much better. It is really worth a try! continue reading
