At the western part of Singapore, you can hardly or never find a stall in hawker centre selling beef noodles.

Here at Jurong West Food Centre, there was one stall that was already selling beef noodles for decades.

Their beef noodles was slightly different from other stalls whereby you can see they put some preserved salted cabbage on top of the beef noodle. This preserved salted cabbage added some sourish and saltiness to the gravy.

Although the appearance of the beef noodle gravy was slightly lighter brown, the gravy was rich in beef stock flavour. I guessed maybe they had put lesser dark soya sauce.

However, I find that their sliced beef meat was tasted smooth on the surface but some were chewy.

Overall, I think their beef noodles tasted average and was not as good as those chain beef noodles stalls in foodcourt.

Living in the west, my family has been going to the Jurong West St 52 market since I was a little girl. For more than 20 years, for as long as we have been going to this market, my father and sister had always loved the beef noodles at the Bugis Street Beef Kway Teow stall. Of course you get all your selection of beef cuts, tendons and innards. Even their beef meatballs are huge and juicy! It's difficult to say which is my favourite - dry or soup - because both are equally great!

The chili is also a perfect blend, don't forget to add a healthy dose of lime in your noodles and your chili to kill any possible bacteria in your beef! As they don't overcook the beef til it is rock hard to retain the tender bite, they always give a big ball of lime for customers. Fantastic!

I guess for most urbanites, the only downside perhaps is that the stall is right beside the wet market. It's dark, damp and smells of fresh pork from the stall beside the limited seats. But hey, you can always choose to sit nearer to the periphery of the market! Of course, you can always choose to take away and eat it at home!
