Cheval boosts of a very relaxed ambience both indoors and outdoors - nothing pretentious or fanciful, just a comfortable, wholesome place for food and drinks. After ordering a glass of Red Wine, we decided to share a Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken Slices - the ingredients were generous as was the dressing. The latter, we could have done with lesser as it made the salad a tad too soggy. Nonetheless, a hearty, healthy starter.Next, the Cheval's Platter consisting of fried chicken wings, potato wedges, calamari and soft-shelled crab. I loved the platter though I seldom take a platter of entirely-fried stuff. The soft-shelled crab especially, was delightfully tasty and crispy. The calamari had thin crust, so one could taste the succulent squid flesh through the crispy crust. For more detailed information and photos, please visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2014/01/dinner-at-cheval-turf-city.html continue reading

The FoodI ordered the Chicken Caesar salad and fish & chipsMy favorite is the Chicken Caesar Salad because the grilled chicken come with hard boiled eggs, tomato and mixed greens with salad dressing. Chicken meat is tender and juicy and when eat together with mixed veggies, the taste was refreshing and nice.As for the the fish n chips, fish meat is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Portion was quite big and fries also crispy and less oily too. Together with a bit of sourness from the lemon and tar tar sauce, the feeling is "Heavenly" !!The ServiceThe service is good and the waiter there was proactive in topping up our iced water whenever our iced water almost finish. The AmbienceWhat I enjoyed most about is the scenery and ambience. As the place is located at Turf Club Riding Centre hence the feeling is relaxing and the seats are cozy and comfortable. The PriceEven though the price is quite expensive which cost around $20 plus per person but is definitely worth it for the ambience, food and service.OverallI will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try !! continue reading

The ambience in this restaurant is really cosy, spacious and comfortable. I normally would like to come here for a quiet and peaceful meal with my husband. The foods here are also quite nice, which includes their chicken chop, which is one of my favourite dish. The chicken meat is really juicy and tender, which they have also removed the chicken skin on it which make the chicken less oily and healthier. It has been grilled till really fragrant and not too salty. The fries are also not too oily too. For such an environment and descent good food, I will still come back again very soon. continue reading

It was a random idea to dine here. Our relative said they dined here once, and the food was marvelous, so we decided to dine here and give it a try.Located at the Singapore Turf Riding Centre, it was pretty convenient (if you have a car), and there's ample of space for parking. It was a Saturday night when we dined there, and there wasn't a crowd (perhaps it wasn't well known enough....)AmbienceThe ambience is fantastic. From where we sat, we have the excellent view of the Singapore Turf Riding Centre (coincidentally, there were people learning to ride, so it enhanced the scenery). The lighting was rather dim, giving the place a very romantic feel (so those who intend to have a romantic dinner, this is defintely a place to have it). Words can't describe how relaxing the entire place is.ServiceWell, there's plus and minus for the service.Unluckily, something happened to the stove in the kitchen.... :/We had to wait for around 30 minutes for the first time before the waitress came out with a complimentary serving of nachos. She explained to us what happened, and said the nachos will be on the house as a form of apology for the delay in service. Another 30 minutes passed before our main dishes were served. The head chef personally delivered them and apologised again for the delay, and served an extra bowl of mushroom soup for apologies (again). It just shows how much they really care for their customers and is willing to go the extra mile to please them. Of course we were really pleased, despite the long wait (not because of the free stuffs, but how they treasured their customers). They were really friendly as well, and pretty prompt in the service as well.Price and FoodWell..... the price of three cost about $70+. We were given a 10% discount (because of the long wait and the broke down of the stove..) for the visit, and another 10% for the next visit. The servings are pretty huge. So, it's definitely acceptable. The appeal of the food is awesome. The colours are not plain at all, and they arranged the food so nicely that you don't even feel like touching it to destroy the food! (but, well, too hungry to stop myself from digging in right after taking the photo). The food taste great too!We ordered Teriyaki Chicken, Salmon and Fish of the Day. OverallOne word - AWESOME! A wonderfully scrumptious meal. Will definitely come back again. continue reading
