Next to Thian Hock Keng Temple, the doorway led to a cafe called Chong Wen Ge Cafe, Singapore Musical Box Museum, and Musuem Shop. The cafe offers Nyonya Kueh, Asian style Sandwiches, limited selection of Nyonya dishes and drinks. Currently the cafe only accepts cash and NETS payment modes. The service here is self-service. After making payment for order, one would be given a pagar which would light up when the food is ready for collection.
Secret ingredient added to provide unique richness to the cup of brewed black tea and evaporated milk. Served chilled.
It tasted refreshing and rich.
Kaya custard on a steamed black glutinous rice layer that has been infused with coconut milk.
The black glutinous rice added an extra bite to the usual kueh.
It was served 4 pieces as one serving. The little ball burst out liquid gula melaka easily when bite into it.
Glutinous rice parcel topped with sweet coconut filling
It had rich sweet coconut topping but the blue coloring which was made of peaflower was a bit uneven and too little.
Savoury glutinous rice roll with chicken floss paste
Interestingly the chicken paste was on top of the rice roll, instead being wrapped inside as what was commonly found. But the chicken floss paste lacked of the sweetness which I was expecting.
Overall the food was not bad. Service was not bad, although a bit slow in clearing the tables. The place was packed.
