Full Choon Ming Bao Dian review here: http://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.sg/2013/06/zi-char-choon-ming-bao-dian.htmlChoon Ming Bao Dian is a heartland dim sum and chinese bun (Bao) stall that is best known for its affordable and tasty dim sum. What not many people know is that Choon Ming Bao Dian has a central kitchen and headquarters which hand makes all the dim sum, and at the same time, also serves decent Zi Char dishes. What even fewer know is that the lady boss, Sarah, takes care of orphans and under-privileged young parents by employing them to work in her kitchens, while providing them housing just above the stall. Just above this shop is where the orphans and less-privileged young parents live. Lady boss Sarah helps them make a living by employing some of them in her kitchens, while providing education to the others. Dim sum is made in this central kitchen, then shipped out to all parts of the island. I thought the best dish was the Crab Meat Fried Rice, with fresh chunks of deshelled crab meat covering the rice. The dish is light and flavourful, and the flavour of the fried rice doesn't overpower the delicate crab meat. Cheap too, this dish only cost SGD $8! I would highly recommend trying this! Food at Choon Ming Bao Dian is decent, with slightly above average quality and good taste. While the food does take some time to prepare, it's well portioned, satisfying and quite affordable. continue reading

I frequent this stall on a regular basis for their chee cheong fun for breakfast or even for snack. The minimum order is 2 pieces of chee cheong fun at $1.60. The friendly auntie was cut it up using a scissor then add in the sweet sauce, the chilli sauce and sesame. The texture of the chee cheong fun was smooth and soft. It still tasted good even if left it for a while before i eat it. continue reading

This stall offers different type of tim sum and bao. Chee Cheong Fun has been my all time favorite snack. And, i prefer those without any fillings. I like it plain and with a lot of sweet sauce, chilli and sesame seeds. I always requested to have it cut into bigger pieces and when mixed it well with the sauces, it tasted simple and good. This is the snack that brought back a lot of memories. My grandpa used to buy them for my breakfast when i was a kid. continue reading
