We had discovered Chop Lian Hin during one of our trips to Teban Hawker Centre and the crowds outside its shop had brought additional awareness to curious beings like me. Like any typical Singaporean, long queues had given us a perception that the food is good and I bet it on this, thus the reason why I'm here for lunch! As usual, the lunch hours was packed and empty tables were nowhere to be seen. We walked about in the small old school coffee shop and noticed this article from our local papers with some of the recommended dishes. We made our orders even before grabbing a seat so that our servings would be quick as soon as we settled down. There wasn't much response from the lady when we took our order which made us felt alittle unsecure. In fact when we were about to repeat our order once we got a table, she repeated our orders. The last dish which was a add-on order happened to be served first on our table was the 3 cups chicken. San Bei Ji (3 Cups Chicken) was one of the recommended dish which makes up of 3 cups of sauce, Sesame oil, rice wine and soy sauce. Served in a scalding hot cold pot, these fried chicken were are sizzling down in the pot of savoury sauce. Although the sauce was rich, its not too cloying, on top of that the chicken chunks were sweet and soft but the downside of it is that some of them contained bones which may not up to another's liking. The milky soupy dish had completed my day on a rainy cold weather. Although much ginger and evaporated milk was added, the taste were not too overpowering. Noodles was smooth and silky in the broth that gave off a light XO taste. A handful of greens were added and the thick fat generous chunk of sliced fish was the scene stealer. Overall it's fresh and awesome! If you were to ask me about the downside, I would say that one has to be careful of bones among the fleash as well as the scales on the fish skins. Remove them.Pricing is reasonable and a bowl of XO Fish Noodle Soup may cost at least S$6.00 in other coffeeshop. Chop Lian Hin offered is definitely a steal! However the downside of the place is its capacity. Seats are rather limited and we have learn to be earlier next round!"Kiasu" abit, one can actually call up and make reservations for their lunch. Here's the name card. continue reading

Located near my working place, my once a week having lunch over there...my favourite dish Fish Slice/Fish Head Bee Hoon!! Yummy!!The bowl of Fish Slice/Fish Head Bee Hoon given is very big and fresh, the milky based soup is very nice, slippery rice noodles and a handful of greens...Oh yeah!! Their Curry Fish Head also my favourite too, was really sedap (tasty)!!...The curry is made with milk and coconut milk so it is not too jelat, but still creamy and the fish was really fresh!! And also it wasn't overly spicy so it suited me fine... I'll got HOOKED by their FISH FISH! continue reading

If you wish to have a nice bowl of OX fish slice bee hoon for meal, you should head over to Teban Garden where you will find a zi char restaurant called Chop Lian Hin.Parking is not an issue as there are a lot of parking space over there but to park infront of the restaurant, you need to know how to parallel parking. This restaurant is actually a old type of small Zi Char stall located below a neighborhood HDB (Corner side next to indian stall) and normal look of it, you will not think of anything nice at this place but you never know that this is one of the better OX fish slice Bee Hoon from what I have eaten as they are not stingy with their OX.OX Fish Slice Bee Hoon @ $6.50As you can see, the fish slice given is very big and the milky based soup is very nice with strong OX mixed together with it. I am not a soup type of person but I am able to drink almost all the soup of my bowl. continue reading
