I am doing some shopping at NEX, when I notice a stall selling Don's pies. My favourite is Don’s trademark chicken pie. Don's Chicken Pie is filled with huge chunks of chicken, steamed potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, peas and corns. As a whole pie($18.00) is too much for me, I decide to get a quarter pie($4.90) for takeaway. It is packed in a cute triangle shaped box. Inside the pie is wrapped in foils. My sister always brought this pie for the family. It is more expensive now but still good. The pastry got buttery taste but a bit thick. The filling got chicken chunks, mixed vegetable and boiled eggs. It is quite big so very filling to eat for lunch or dinner. I like the original flavor and not the black pepper one. The black pepper taste is quite strong. The shepherd's pie is also nice.

the black pepper chicken pie is the best seller here. and it is does just right. nice flaky pastry. best eaten hot while at the shop. the service is generous. the egg in the pie makes it a bit like a black pepper chicken curry puff. the spices have a kick to it. overall the taste is well balanced. the pastry is thick and soft. not too greasy. the chicken bits are not grisly or fatty and are soft and well done. about $8

haven't had much luck finding good pies in singapore. this one is not bad. mostly it is a puff pastry shell with some filling inside. the filling here is black pepper chicken. it's a good sized pie. a little bit spicy from the black pepper. it's their best seller. it's more like a big black chicken curry puff. costs about $6 for one pie. best eaten hot and on the spot as it is still flaky. when cooled, it is not so flaky or crispy.
