From its humble beginning dating more than a century back, Hock Lam Beef Noodles truly stands the test of time and continues its legacy to serve authentic and quality Teochew Beef Kway Teow. We ordered the dry version of the beef kway teow and an additional bowl of beef ball soup. The sauce of the Beef Kway Teow was tasty and not too starchy. We especially love the beef ball as it was springy and delicious! However, the essence of this dish lies in the soup that is rich in flavour and best of all, not MSG loaded! You know that quality ingredients, time and effort had been put into creating such a marvelous soup base when we never fail to slurp up every single drop of it.Do drop by their new location at the back alley of Seah Street for your quick fix of authentic Beef Kway Teow! continue reading

From their Pervis Street store to the Seah Street location. i had been going there whenever i'm around the area but the price keep going up and no longer value for money compared to other better tasting and value for monet beef noddles shops islandwide.I always have my beef noddles dry mixed and at Pervis Street it was at least $5.When they shifted to Seah Street,it was at least $6 but i didn't mind as this present location is air-conditioned but yesterday i went, the guy who took my order told me minimum is $7 and as usual my request is no cooked beef but my bowl of beef slices comes with overcooked beef and ingredients portion is not worth the amount i pay at $7. continue reading

Sis N suggested Vietnamese noodles along Purvis Street but it wasn’t open on Sundays. So we gave it’s neighbour a shot – Hock Lam Beef Noodles. You can choose to have just sliced beef, beef balls or a combination of both. And of cos, choose between noodles or kway teow, soup or dry.Sis N’s soup one, with thicker chunks of beef. Mine was dry, with beef slices** Sorry I think I got the address wrong. I can't tell if it's Purvis Street or Seah Street! Anybody can help? continue reading

This is the shop where you can have the best beef noodle in Singapore. My recommendations, if you happen to visit this stall, make sure you try it and you’ll then fully agree with me. I understand that Hock Lam Beef takes the effort to flavor the soup with beef parts and beef bones and boil them for 24 hours. The bowl of noodle was indeed satisfying that came with a generous portion of beef. Their sauce was mixed to the perfect taste. I was wowed when I spooned my first spoonful of the beef soup into my mouth. Well, the quality was definitely good and value for money. I’m sure many customers will revisit again and again after their first try. continue reading

Formerly tucked away in a small shophouse along Purvis Street, in hot and humid conditions, patronised and followed by beef noodles lovers, I had enjoyed their beef noodles at their Purvis Street outlet and did not realise that they moved to the other street beside them and gone through a revolutionary change in their layout, design, decoration and history. Before I go further, let me introduce their famous trademark dish, the Hock Lam Street Popular Beef Kway Teow. The gravy is not too thick, nice and smooth (if you choose the dry noodles option), holding it up well even when the noodles/kway teow is mixed with the beef portions. There are different varieties of beef portions that you can order with your beef kway teow and I chose the mixed Beef dry Kway Teow set, a nice mixture of beef slices, beef balls, beef intestines and liver. The beef portions are tender and tasty, not overcooked and definitely fresh. Take a closer look at the crushed peanuts and pickled vegetables on my beef noodle, that's 2 key ingredients that makes it special too ! The chili and fish sauce, along with their soup, is a must have combination of spices and seasoning to complement your beef noodles/kway teow. The current outlet at 38 Seah Street is so much nicer and better, in terms of floor size (hold more customers), nice air-conditioning, beautiful walls fitted with history of Hock Lam Beef, nice tables and chairs. From the days I had their beef kway teow at Purvis Street a few years ago, their standards have remained and their beef kway teow still taste just as authentic and delicious. If you around Beach Road / Seah Street area, do drop by and try them out ! continue reading
