This set of standard hotpot($4.50) come with a choice of either rice or dry handmade noodles. The hotpot contains ingredients like chicken, egg, crabstick, mushroom and lots of cabbage which is a quite a balance meal together with the dry handmade noodles.I especially like the dry handmade noodles because the noodle taste similar to the Chinese 炸酱面.The sauce for the noodles is on the mild sweet and sour (as the stall helper went easy with the black vinegar). continue reading

Facing this red drunken chicken was a tough job, because it didn't look like any conventional chicken. It costs $5, and you get $0.50 off (10% discount) with the Kopitiam card. They give this soup regardless what you order, which was quite worth it.I love the delicious taste of the drunken chicken, full of spices, and a lot of red chicken. I didn't know how they do it, but it tasted a bit like char siew after awhile. The fire didn't go out for very long, keeping my food hot, which is something I always love! continue reading

After walking around the kopitiam at the IMM outlet, I have decided to try out the food from this stall which sells something that is quite different from other kopitiam. Looking at their menu, I have chosen the sweet and sour pork set and it comprises of the sweet and sour pork hotpan, a bowl of soup and the rice. The sweet and sour pork is sprinkle with slice carrot and chopped spring onion which improve the presentation. As for the taste wise, the pork is well cooked, slight crispy texture and tender on the inside. As for the sweet and sour sauce, it is well seasoned, not too sour nor sweet, just right and also has the sufficient thickness. The soup includes some chopped carrot, cabbage and crab stick. Taste wise is light and refreshing and is not oily. Overall, good food, reasonable price and is worth the try. continue reading

I was walking around imm, decided to head to the kopitiam for dinner. Apparently at dinner time, it was not crowded, did not have any problem finding seats at all, even had the chance to select where I wanted to sit.The hot pans stall called my attention as soon as I walked into the foodcourt. They had this set meals where you get a main dish and soup. I decided to try the Thai style sweet and sour pork set. It came with a mini pot of soup too. They added a lot of solid fuel till the fire was burning very long and very big. For the Thai style sweet and sour pork, it was not really nice. The gravy was so thick that you can feel like sticking to the back of your teeths. It did not go well with the rice as well. The pork was deep fried but there were fat meats among the lean meat and the meat was very dry probably due to the deep frying. The soup was rather tasty and sweet probably because they added carrots and white cabbage. But I was still rather disappointed with it. continue reading

I tried the mini steamboat the other day. It was really delicious. you can choose from 3 soup bases of which I chose the herbal soup base. Then I selected the seafood set. All in all it cost me $5.90 before kopitiam’s card 10% discount. The portion of the ingredient is a lot, there were fish slices, 2 prawn, sotong slices, cabbage and cai sin, tau kee, crab stick. So many different ingredients. The prawns were fairly large in size somemore. So worth it! all there seafood were very fresh. The soup is very tasty. so delicious! continue reading
