Ichiban Sushi is a casual japanese restaurant and was quite famous with a number of outlets in Singapore. Out of so many eateries available in IMM, we had decided Ichiban for we were craving for a quick Japanese dinner. As we were early, there was not much crowd. As usual while waiting for our food we had the sides first and that was the color plates sushi, Tamago (egg) and Inari (sweet bean curd). Kurobuta Cheese Curry - Sliced black pork and cheese with Japanese curry, miso, rice and fruit. Kurobuta was served in a mini pot sizzling over the fire and smells good as the curry fragrance diffused. Meat was thinly sliced and chewy. However it seems like the pot of curry had not much difference even though cheese was added.Cost: $15.90Chicken Shogayaki Wazen - Chicken with ginger sauce, tempura soft shell crab, chawanmushi, rice, miso and fruit. I like the ginger tasting chicken as it was coated with sweet savoury sauce and meat was tender.Cost: $16.90The Chawanmushi that comes with the set was well flavoured with its chicken stock and ingredients like mushrooms, fishcakes and gingo nuts were found.Total amount spent: $53.44 continue reading

Beef udon $13.90the udon's texture was not hard and well cooked. It was quite thick. The taste was also light, and not salty nor sweet. The thin slices of beef were not many so it might be a little expensive. cha soba and chicken set $13.90the portion of the cha soba was quite big and very filling. The mini rice bowl chicken don was nice too. The gravy was not salty. Overall, the plain rice with the gravy, chicken and egg combined very well to give a good taste. It is very appetizing. continue reading

Kaisen Anakake Nabe: $23.90This set consists of Salmon Nabe (a type of soup-base), crabmeat salad, chawamushi, rice, soup, and a beautifully shaped fried fish cake. I like the crabmeat salad the most out of the whole set! haha! The salmon nabe was not too bad, salmon was a little too thin for my liking and as it was about$25 in total, I expected a bigger cut. The fried fish cut although pretty, was not very good as it was deep fried for too long. Making the skin a little hard. I couldn't identify what was on the rice (purple flakes) but i think it's some sort of sour ingredient? Tasted a bit funny. I love how the set meal is always this lunch portion where I share almost share amongst 3 of us and we only need to add 1-2 more side dishes. continue reading

I can't remember what this sushi is called but it's a great choice for vegetarians. It is basically carrot, cucumber and corn sticks wrapped in sushi rice. The green flakes you see surrounding the rice is seaweed flakes. The carrot and corn sticks are fresh and crunchy and the cucumber sticks add a refreshing taste overall. This sushi is called Golden Catch. It is a combination of dory fish, potato, tartar sauce and lettuce. This is so yummy! It has a coating around the sushi which is made up of tiny crispy potato sticks. So crunchy and soft at the same time. It's a must-have every time I visit! continue reading

I ordered a combination set meal which is Maru Cheese Chicken while my friend ordered Sliced Pork and add-on to a Salmon Rice Bowl! Their combination set meals were really worth the price as every meal came with a side dish, miso soup, chawanmushi and fruits! Really affordable as each set costs around $15-20++ depending on what you ordered. For my set, I got soft shell crabs for my side dish! Super happy! The serving was huge and the meal tasted good given its price! As for my friend, his meal came with salmon sashimi, miso soup and fruits! Their salmon sashimi was fresh and yummy! We also ordered ice-cream tempura as it sounded nice! Haha! It turned out to be okay only but still not too bad! Would appreciate if the ice cream wasn't that frozen! All in all, enjoyed my lunch here on a late Tuesday afternoon! No waiting time was required FYI! continue reading
