years ago, johnson lock along sin ming road used to be a family treat during special occasions like mom's birthday, chinese new year and national day (yes, we were THAT patriotic ). we usually do a takeaway on a whole duck ($13) and finished the whole duck by dinnertime. but i have to admit that nowadays, johnson lock no longer lives up to its name now. not sure if there is a change in management, chefs or recipes. we ordered half a duck, a plate of sambal kangkong and some roast meat for 2 persons. the duck meat was not as juicy as it used to be, quite dry actually. we had to dribble on the dark duck sauce and chili to ease the chewing process. as the place was not packed, the service staff response to our requests (for more rice, bill) was of satisfactory.
