I believe not many people eat pig organs nowadays, or at least for the younger generation. I've always been adventurous with my food, I can eat anything as long as it's cooked and tasty. Well, I recall that my mum used to lament that pig's kidney is so expensive. However, she still cooked pig's kidney with mee sua soup for an occasional treat. This stall has been around in this coffee shop for several years already and is one of the longest surviving stalls. Most of the others have already changed owners. I've seen my friends order their pig organ's soup before and they loved it. Somehow or other, I just never really gave it much thought previously.Today, I suddenly felt an urge to order the pig's liver & kidney mee sua soup. Guess I was feeling a bit nostalgic about the dish. The soup was tasty and the pig's organs were fresh (I saw the cook take them out from the fridge). A very generous amount of pig's liver and kidney were given. I was glad that the portion given was 50-50. Most places outside gives you mostly the liver and only a few measly kidney slices as they are usually more expensive. For $4 a bowl, I think it was really quite worth the price. continue reading
