I think I am getting more & more addicted to Korean food hehe. Heard that there is a great value-for-$ Korean BBQ place at City Square, so I asked 2 other friends to check it out with me. As we only reached the restaurant about 2pm on a Saturday afternoon, it was not crowded, think only 2 or 3 tables were occupied. We said that we would like to have the ala-carte buffet ($25.90+ per pax) and asked the waitress to recommend dishes for us. According to her, while waiting for the meat to be grilled/ bbq, we can try out their soups and so we did.

The soups were a real disappointment, especially the Budaejjigae soup. We actually thought they had served us the wrong soup when it was brought to our table. Can u ever guess that it's Budaejjigae soup if I had not told you (as from the picture above)? The soup was very diluted and there were only sausages and some bits of spam in the soup, so much different from the real thing! We even added in the kimchi from the side dishes to add more flavour to the soup lol.

As for the fish cake soup, it was a very simple soup so I didn't expect too much. Though nothing special, at least it didn't deviate much from how we think the original Korean fish cake soup should look like haha. The consolation was we could still enjoy drinking the soup amidst so many spicy dishes served.

Actually there were 2 more soups on the menu but as we were too disappointed with the soup we had, we decided to save our stomachs for better food. haha

The good thing about this restaurant is side dishes are refillable and they serve quite a variety - total of 8 side dishes! Although there was 1 weird side dish, which obviously doesn't belong to the authentic Korean side dish family - the preserved sichuan vegetable. Almost all the service staff sound like they are from mainland China, so maybe that's why they decided to add in this "authentic Chinese side dish"?

Guess the speciality in this restaurant is really the various types of meat. All the meat we ordered were great!

All the meat we ordered were wonderful! The first plate we ordered was the Bulgogi version - pork & chicken, both spicy & non-spicy, and they came with generous slices of mushroom. Yumyum

The next plate was the BBQ version which we also ordered spicy & non-spicy pork & chicken. Again they were well-marinated & tasted really good. What we liked was also the fact that we were given fresh green vegetables to wrap the meat in, and with the special Korean chilli sauce too. The bad point is they also put so little sauce in the big saucer & we had to ask for refill quite often. We also ordered the BBQ beef as our last round of meat, which was equally delicious like the pork & chicken.

After so much meat, we decided to order some carbo. This restaurant introduced us to a new way of cooking Hotpot Bibimbab - by pouring the rice & vegetables onto the hot pan to stir fry it. We were a bit surprised when we saw the waitress doing so, always thought that this would be called fried rice & not hotpot bibimbap haha. Anyhow the taste was not bad. ^^

Our last dish was the dried spicy cold noodles. I never like cold noodles, for a simple reason, because I find it weird to eat noodles cold hehe. But since 2 of them wanted to try, I took some to see if this time I would be won over. Frankly it was slightly better than the 1 & only time I tried it in Seoul 6 years ago, as that time I had the cold noodles with a pile of ice beneath the noodles. But I still don't really fancy cold noodles after this second try though.
It was too sticky for my liking, although the noodles were scented with some green tea (or whatever tea) aroma. The only thing I liked about this dish was the very sweet fragrant pear slices they added in lol.

Verdict for this restaurant is it is definitely worth going for $28.50 per pax, especially if you are a meat lover! We were so full after a 2 hours buffet...

Oh the waitress told us that during peak periods (probably evenings?) they will impose a 2-hours restriction on the buffet timing so as to cope with the crowd. So better to go during lunch I guess.

We've experience a bad experience at one of the restaurant at City Square Mall & we were so pissed off.

We were walking around City Square Mall & decide to try this Korean BBQ.
It took over BBQ Chicken's location.

& we were glad that we came here to eat..

We were greeted by friendly waiters there & were asked to select the meats that we would like. They have a few choices of meet.
Basically whole meats & bulgogi.
They had a few side dishes which we are able to select from.
They have kimchi soup & some cold noodles.
There are some cut of meat that require some top up of money.

It's really worth it.
Beside us,there were people wrapping the meat with lettuce, which is a healthy option.
Do feel free to tell the waiter when you want a change of the pan so as to fully maximise the flavour of the meat.

They had this set thing which includes most of the meat(whole) & bulgogi styled.
It's my first korean bbq & it's great!
Will definitely go back again.
Hopefully there will be more options!

The price is good too!!$25.90 for the korean bbq buffet!
