We liked it here. It seemed so quaint and secluded, and it had a very charming appeal about it. The food was generally good, and better than the average. Best of all, the price points of the food are cheap(er) than you'd expect of an establishment like this.

We had:

1) Parma Ham ($19) - with Italian burratina cheese and rucola salad. I loved the contrast of the soft, almost fluffy pink ribbons of salty fatty ham against the peppery crunch of the rucola leaves.I wasn't a fan of the burrata (as a matter of preference) though it was good in quality, mild, soft and a wonderful complement to the bread basket

2) Risotto ($24) - with wild mushroom, parmesan and truffle oil, was like eating a very rich and earthy mushroom soup.If you sniffed the al dente rice very hard, you get a faint whiff of truffle-scented oil infused into the dish. Otherwise, the addition of the truffle oil was negligible

3) Classic Meat Platter ($36) - a combination of chicken breast, lamb shoulder rack, pork rack, beef sirloin, pork and lamb sausages, served with mediterranean vegetables. The dish is costly, yet the meats were dry and tasteless.Even the liberal addition of chilli flakes couldn't impart sufficient flavour into the meat. We'll stick to pizzas and pastas next time round

This was not the first time for me to this restaurant but the crowd had seemingly reduced over the past years. There were only a few tables on a Tuesday night. You can choose to sit indoor or outdoor. We went with indoor seating in the end. I ordered lamb racks. It was not bad but the lamb racks were quite fatty. It would be better if the meat was more lean. It was served with mash and ratatouille. My girlfriends ordered mushrooms and veal ravioli and seafood linguine. Both of them commended the

My girlfriends ordered mushrooms and veal ravioli and seafood linguine. Both of them commended the dishes. Lastly we ordered a warm chocolate lava cake to share. It was served with vanilla ice-cream and it tasted great! Thumbs up for the dessert.

La Villa is one of my few favorite Italian restaurants. They serve really good pizzas and pasta of good quality. The ingredients used were very fresh and juicy which makes the meal value for money. We were served a plate of bread while waiting for the pasta to arrive. I ordered Spaghetti which comprises of Spaghetti Pasta with mixed Seafood in Squid-ink sauce. It comes in two sizes, S $20 and L $24.

La Villa’s location is kinda interesting because it is housed within the old school premises of River Valley Primary School and is just a few bus stops away from Clarke Quay. It comprises an indoor dining area, an alfresco dining area, a bar, and an open garden. For obvious reasons, we opted for the Set Lunch ($26++). Complimentary bread in basket was served shortly after we placed our orders. Took a small piece. It’s warm! Ok plain bread is just plain bread. And i say: Do away with the bread! We

For obvious reasons, we opted for the Set Lunch ($26++). Complimentary bread in basket was served shortly after we placed our orders. Took a small piece. It’s warm! Ok plain bread is just plain bread. And i say: Do away with the bread! We really don’t need this..

I had the Tortilla rolled with crab meat salsa as my starter. Crispiness was just right. Kinda reminded me of the breaded fishfingers I used to have as a little kid

Tadah! Introducing.. The ‘La Villa’ Fish and Chips! The two other available choices for the main course were lasagna and beef ragout. When the fish and chips were placed before me, I thought that the color of the fish looked quite pale and sickly. It’s not your usual golden brown fish. Texture was different as well. It was dry but not particularly crispy. But hey, I’m not complaining! I enjoyed the fish for its hint of herbs too. However, the fries were mediocre.

Homemade chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream for dessert! Homemade, in other words, La Villa in this context. No prizes for guessing why I chose this. Haha. To sum things up, my lunch ended on a sweet note!

Waiters were quite attentive, refilling our glasses every now and then, and clearing our plates almost as soon as we were done. The set lunch is updated every week so do check things out on their website!
