The FoodKong bak pau was their signature snack, so I decided to order it. It is a special steam bun with homemade stewed pork belly. It was really good. I was pretty surprised as Maison Ikkoku doesnt look like a cafe that will sell such "chinese" food. The MenuIt would be better if the menu includes pictures of the food. Too simple, hope to know how the food looks like in the menu too. Good selections of coffee but not mains. The AmbianceReally good ambiance. Love it.

Maison Ikkoku is one of the cafe hop destination where my friends & i will go to. Tried most of their cakes.Red velvet was not bad, moist. Pumpkin cheesecake is barely ok, cant taste the pumpkin. Tiramisu - Overdose of alcohol in it, its bad.Carrot cake - my friend love this, but i had better ones elsewhere.Chocolate valrhona - Personally preferred valrhona in beverage than food.Taro Cheesecake - this is the best of all cakes, the yam taste is subtle and both the yam & cheese blended perfectly.

Went to their website to browse the menu, woo, seems light, because they served sandwiches, salads, cakes, etc.  But the Weekend menu seems more appetizing because they have "All Day Breakfast"...which is our favorite...

The interior of the cafe is cute with nice couches, standees, stools, and wooden tables.  Erm...if you look carefully at the wooden table tops, they are actually the drawer/cupboard doors.  Quite interesting.  There are cupboards hanging above our heads too.  I wonder who thought of that...

You can choose wholemeal or Ciabatta for your sandwich.  I ordered Chunky Wasabi Egg and Lemon Chamomile (had coffee earlier, so I don't wanna have coffee again), JL ordered HAM & MONTEREY JACK and Cappuccino and Janice ordered SPICY CHICKEN & CHEDDAR and English Breakfast Tea.  Oh my, I meant to have light lunch, but the portions were huge....

We didn't have to wait for too long for the food to come.  Forgot to take picture of the gals' sandwiches.  For me, I find they are quite generous with the sandwich fillings...  I love wasabi mayo, but I didn't know that it actually tastes nice when you mixed it with egg.  The sandwiches are served with Salad with special "japanese peanut dressing"...  I'm not too sure if that's the correct name for the dressing, but it does has that Peanut taste.  I love the salad dressing.  Personally, I don't really like the Lemon Chamomile, it taste kinda weird.  I'd prefer just the normal Chamomile tea
As expected, I would love to finish the sandwich, but couldn't.

Oh!  They have cakes too!  And I bought their Homemade Tiramisu (S$10), brought home for his dessert.

Place is quite small but i really like the decor.. old dark wooden table and the menu was designed to look abit 'aged'. Anyway of course we had to try the coffee.. was very good! It reminds me of the one at highlander(sorry im a bit of a kopi-gui so i can tell the diff between robusta and arabica). I know the one at highlander uses both beans to give their coffee a very nicely complex taste.. similarly, the one at Maison has the same feeling, but ending with a more arabica touch, albeit abit more to the sour side. Still good. =)

The downside of visiting on the weekend is the menu is slightly mjore expensive. The weekday menu serves a meal set that comes with mains and free coffee/tea but the weekend one doesnt and the food is slightly more expensive. I took the eggs florentine-- poached eggs with a layer of spinach under and topped with bacon on english muffins; whereas angmokia took the eggs benedict with parma ham in between. Both dishes were drenched with hollandaise sauce..

it was very filling but still, its an 'atas' brunch so we paid arnd $50 together with gst..

Given that it has quite a small menu, i probably would not go back for food soon as there are a number of coffee/brunch places arnd the area to try.

a nice quiet street on weekend, but too bad the cafe close a little too early.. or else it will be a nice place for people to chill out and gather with a group of friends. they only serve all day breakfast on weekends, and sandwiches are only available one weekdays. =(

ordered the Break of Dawn (Love love love this set of breakfast! Changed the Crispy Bacon to shredded ham is a good choice! Huge serving! Love love love the peanut butter dressing on the side salad!) Must Try dish!!!

Eggs Benedict (For $16.90, I think is a little not worth it compare to my $18.90 Break of Dawn Set)

Red Velvet Cake (Hmm, like the coated cheese, it is comparable to the Food For Thought's ones)

we ordered only one Cappuccino (♥) but the service crew surprise us by offering another beverage on the house! thanks!

Cafe Latte (Perfect Glass of coffee to boast your day!) On the house!

love the latte art too!
