Cook House has an excellent atmosphere with lots of seating. I always thought that JEM is really crowded, but not so for the Cook House, because I believe many people assume the food court will be crowded and thus not go there. I love the design and the ambience that Cook House has set. Cookhouse by Koufu is the perfect spot for pleasant dining and superb cuisine ranging from local fare to international cuisine! They have really selected reputable vendors for their food, or at least, their hawkers do provide quality food.In a standalone corner of the food court, the Masa-Lah Indian Flavour is usually spotted with a queue. Though the items are priced higher than the usual coffeeshop prices, the delectable delights would help you to understand that it IS WORTH THE PRICE.They even have indian-style decorations to spice up the shop, making it look as Masa-Lah as possible. Really cute, eh? The menu are placed at good spots for you to look at, and thankfully the words are not too tiny.I ordered Mutton Biryani ($9.00), which is really a lot more cheaper than the Masalah in Serangoon's delivery. Served with curry, papad, raita and long bean, the mutton biryani is representative of real, genuine indian food. Most Indians would eat the rice with their hand (typically the right hand). Be sure to wash your hands at the store RIGHT beside the Masa-lah indian flavour shop! This is how the wash area looks like, really kinda vintage eh?The biryani rice was full of spices, and the mutton was not too fatty. In fact, it was quite tender. It is really one of the interesting delicious gems found and they were really hygienic. I was disappointed with the long beans though. It was not thoroughly cooked, which is something that I was not used to. The long beans were quite hard even though they looked really fresh, therefore perhaps it is the culture of the indians to eat their vegetables slightly raw.I love the Masalah curry! It smelled really fresh and the oil was not pervasive. It was a perfect combination to dip my mutton into!If you are looking to eat the best of Masalah and have some money to spend, I would recommend you try their Biryani. continue reading
