One used to find Matchaya in various popout events, selling bottled matcha drinks, matcha powder and other matcha products. Finally it opened an outlet at Icon Village last weekend. It is a takeaway outlet which is located between the old wing and new wing of the building.Cha Cha Pop ($8)In collaboration with Neh Neh PopMatcha ice-cream, black molasses, houjicha and matcha shell, feuilletine and toasted sesameIt was quite an interesting ice cream stick with the rich creamy green tea flavour, savoury crunchy sesame seeds, the crunchy feuilletine and the sweet black molasses.Houjicha Choco ($5/ cold)It was a drink made of espresso, houjicha (roasted green tea) and chocolate sauce. The drink was also available in hot and bottled version too. It was not too sweet in taste but I felt the chocolate flavour was most distinct out of the 3 flavours in the drink.Matcha Yuzu Clear Tea ($4.90/ cold)A light and refreshing drink with sweet yuzu slices in it. It did not taste too sweet too. I like that the matcha taste was there but without the bitter taste. The drink was also available in hot and bottled version too.Matcha Milk Tea ($4.50/ hot)For those who always felt that the green tea latte at Starbucks was too sweet, you would like the version here, as it had the matcha taste and did not taste too sweet. The drink was also available in cold and bottled version too.Kuromitsu Milk Tea ($4.20/ hot)For those do not take tea product, this is the drink for you. Kuromitsu (黒蜜) is a Japanese sugar syrup made from Japanese unrefined Okinawan kurozato (黒 砂糖), which is similar to molasses, but thinner and milder. It had a taste similar to gula melaka and did not taste too sweet.I also planned to try the toast but it was not available. One had to be patient while waiting for order, as drinks were made upon order. No mass production here.  continue reading
