Situated at a corner (opposite Cedele) in Great World City, its not a strategic location where it's easily noticeable.I only spotted it today after many visits to this shopping mall.Not a very big place but there are enough dining tables to house a crowd.Love the way they decor and renovated the place - a very warm & cozy environment.We were famished so we made a quick decision and went for their Irresistible 3 course Set Lunch without taking time to run through their ala carte menu.Irresistible

Medium done. Very juicy and tender sirloin steak, it's deliciously good even on its own. I finished the whole piece in a flash. The thick cut fries was also fabulous with its lightly salted flavouring.

Pork Loin - The pork loin honestly looked gorgeous but the old adage holds true; Appearances can be deceiving. Spotting a weirdly soft texture (I had expected something tougher with more bite), the pork was topped with a layer of mushroom and melted cheese. All were bland and could do with a little more salt or flavour.

Sirloin - Done medium as per my request, the sirloin was a tad too salty for my liking and a tad soft as well. Having said that, the sweetness of the meat was sufficiently evident and all in all, a pretty decent piece of steak.

Tiramisu - The tiramisu's sponge to mascarpone ratio was largely skewed in favour of the mascarpone and a teetotaler's version at that. The coffee taste was apparent but the mascarpone wasn't rich enough. Still a decent eat.

Sticky Date Pudding - Not many places serve sticky date pudding so I usually make it a point to order one if I spot it on the menu. Topped with chocolate sauce, Pepper's rendition of this classic English dessert was palatable at best; The pudding wasn't spongy enough while coming across as a little too dry and dense and lacking the oomph factor. Maybe a scoop of ice cream would have done it good.

Weekend lunch was relatively cheap for the quantity and variety of food, at about $22/head. However quality of food hovered around the average mark though service was acceptable. I don't suppose I will be back again but I guess it might be a cheaper alternative amongst the higher end options at Great World City.

On my last day of work, my colleagues decided to have lunch somewhere out of our comfort zone. I was kept in the dark without a single clue as to what we will eat much less where we will dine. If you know a thing or two about having good quality steaks on your plates, Pepper Steakhouse & Bistro menu offers diners with New Zealand Firstlight grass-fed Wagyu and New Zealand Savannah Black Angus. Both of which are well known breeds across the world as some of the finer beef cuts. To top off such an enjoyable prime cut, all steak orders comes with unlimited fries to be consumed till your heart’s content!

As much as I wanted to sink my teeth into their prime steak cuts, I have to resist the urge of spending too much over a meal and settle for their set lunch which I ordered their Grilled Australian Tara Valley Sirloin. It was pretty average nothing special to boost about and it looked unproportionate to my huge white with nothing but a simple garish at the side.

I really do not know what to say. I should expect more because this is a steakhouse but then again, I shouldn’t expect more since it’s just a dish offered in my affordable priced set lunch. So it’s times like these where I have to come back another round to try their “real” prime cuts just to make that final verdict if it’s good or bad.

Maybe when I have the time or have cravings for steaks?

Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni Pasta served in rich Tomato Sauce with Wild Rocket.

In fact, all of us were going for their set lunch instead! Don’t ask me why though. Maybe it’s the peer pressure that influence each of us to go with the flow. I worked with fast hands trying to take all the snapshots before the food turned cold.

But if I needed another shot just to play safe, I think they could just wait a little longer. I didn’t try all the dishes since I think it’s pretty rude to take small bites out of people’s food. So much of the opinions you read are actually what my colleagues said.

As for the pastas, good was the only word used to explain her lunch experience at the same.

On the other end of savoury dishes, we have the blandest ones which we believed could do a little more salt and seasoning. That was the case with their Chicken Casserole and Lamb Ragout. It might be drizzled in sauce but still pretty much tasteless.

Pan Fried Dory Fillet with Mashed Potato and Seasonal Vegetables.

Seafood are almost always a delight or a huge disappointment. The later term seemed to be more appropriate since the fillet was nothing more than a slab of dried out meat stacked on greens.

Regardless of set lunches priced at $12++ or something more expensive off the al carte menu, I would always expect food both presentable and palatable. Nevermind if you’re using the best ingredients nicely garnished on a clean plate. If the food isn’t up to standard, chances are you won’t return to the place again right?

Like I mentioned earlier at the start of this post, I would love to come back to try their signature steaks or even return for brunch. But out of so many dishes we tried, only the cannelloni pasta was commendable while the rest were not worth ordering.

Their desserts on their hand, were surprisingly Once again, Pepper is another place where their desserts outshines their mains. With an additional of $5, you can end your meal with any preferred desserts on the set menu. We all adore the Panacotta with Strawberries and Berry Coulis. It was delectable without the artificial taste that comes with such desserts.

As for me, I had all the Tiramisu in a glass all to myself.

The meal was nothing exceptional unless you factor in the two desserts and the whole lot of small talks on the table. a farewell lunch it might be but this isn’t the last one we shall sit down and eat…
