After dinner i was feeling somewhat hungry and so i decided to get some bread from Petite Provence. Really want to try their Milk Pan ($1.70) and finally i got to do so today. I was actually swayed by the word Milk and then add a Pan after it, it just sounds so cute. Although it looks a little plain, though there seems to be a cursive M on top of the bun.  While browsing around, i also decided to get the Brazilian Cheese Bun ($0.90). They asked me if i wanted it with sugar or without sugar. I went for the former though i don't think i can taste the sugar when biting down on the hard pastry. It's really quite hard and tough to bite into (but not like nougat kind of hard). The cheese flavour is just amazing. The whole pastry is quite chewy and while chewing you get to savour the cheese. Thumbs up for their delightful creations!

Milk pan $1.70
The appearance of the Milk Pan itself was not attractive. If not for the poster recommending this, I would not have tried it and I was glad I did. The custard-like milk fillings was rich and smooth and went so well with the lightly flavoured soft and fluffy bread.

I got the ones with sugar and the ones with flour and the ones with flour would appeal more to the self-conscious. The texture was very chewy and addictive and the cheese taste was spread throughout the bread. Although the taste of the cheese was not strong (if you don't like cheese, you can surely tolerate this), it had a rich flavour.

Petit Provence sells quality breads at prices that are above average but they are certainly worth a try.

Soft and Fluffy Breads @ Petit Provence!

When I learnt that Petit Provence is a Japanese bakery, I knew that I'd just have to check it out. The chance came when I went to Jem to check out the Kinokuniya branch there. It took me a while to find the Petit Provence outlet, and when I did, I was surprised to find it to be a really small shop carrying an even smaller range of products than most other bakeries would carry; some of the shelf space was even bare, although I wasn't sure if the breads were sold out or if that's all the range the

 However, looking at the breads displayed in a warmly lit counter, I supposed quality matters more than quantity, and the limited selections also helped to make the decision process easier.

 Firstly, I got the Cream Wassant ($0.70) and Chocolate Wassant ($0.70) as I've heard some good reviews of Petit Provence's wassants. They are shaped like a croissant but the texture was more like bread. The bread was very, very soft and 'fluffy', and the taste wasn't overpowering. I love how simple and light it was and felt like I could eat more of them without feeling guilty!

 I also got the Chocolate Chocolate ($0.80) which was more like a mini croissant and was harder in texture and slightly stronger in taste than the wassants. There was also chocolate sauce in it, which added to the chocolate-y taste, but I thought it was more toned down compared to other chocolate breads I've tried before.

 The last item I got was their Milk Pan ($1.70). Just got to try it! The bread was very soft as well and there was a slight savoury taste to it. The milk filling, which was like custard, was milky and smooth and went really well with the slightly salty bread!

 Service at the Jem store was also decent and prompt and the salesgirl was quick in processing orders so there wasn't a need to wait long. The prices were also quite reasonable for their range of breads like the wassants ($0.70), although there was no discount if you buy them in bulk of 5 ($3.50). I do wish they would expand their range of breads at the outlet though! Nevertheless, Petit Provence now has a newly converted fan on their side; I just love the simple taste and softness of their breads!

Petit Buns at Your Delight!

Visited JEM Mall after my work and passed by the basement when I spotted Petit Provence. The outlet at ION had closed down and I have missed their croissants since.Bought 2 types of their croissants to taste and see if they are still the same. I bought the cheese and chocolate ones It was freshly baked and I was first allured by their aroma, that's how I stumbled upon it at a corner.It was indeed very nice, however could be more crispy.

My girlfriend and I are just so glad that Petit Provence decided to open a stall at JEM. Even though we were already so full from lunch, we had to at least get a Wassant each. This is how tempting their Wassants are. There were only two flavours to choose from, cream and kaya. We both preferred cream so we got two cream wassant. each wassant was reasonably priced at 70 cents each. the wassant is very light and fluffly, when you take a bite, it like practically melts in your mouth. very fragrant
