Polar's standards are really consistent becasue they are "mass produced" and transported to their various outlets. Maybe they use lots of preservatives? I was there at 9:30am and already they have their shelves stocked to the brim! They have not kitchen there, so obviously it's not baked on the spot... could have been there since last night?Their cakes are colourful and quite tasty. Their cakes are colourful and quite tasty. A bit more upmarket than the neighbourhood stuff but not as good as the more upmarket stuff. Everything is very well-presented and oraganised. The staff are also very fast, efficient and organised. They are quite polite if you're buying stuff from them.
The savoury puffs are not too bad... standard butter puff pastry is used... I prefer Old Chang Kee type pastry for the puffs. But the fillings are pretty tasty... rather greasy though...
The swiss rolls are pretty good to look at and look alright. You can buy them by the piece or in a log. They have cream puffs (Beard Papa style) and tarts too. But of all their foods, I think I'll stick with their whole cakes and rolls, which are presented superbly and look amazing. Very very pretty cakes!! And they taste pretty good too.
A bit over-priced but you get consistent quality of food... not too bad...
