I like the wanton mee especially in dark sauce. It is almost closed to my hometown one. It has standard ingredients, i.e. char siews, veggies, pork lards. I remember at the beginning, the pork lard is free flow one. It is just placed together with chili. However, now it is added by stall assistant. Anyway, the amount is just nice. I like to add green chili. I like the mixing sour taste of green chili and noodles in dark sauce. Usually, noodles comes with 2 deep fried wantons & 2 boiled one. But I request to have all boiled ones due to I need to control my diet. Wanton is quite small. Even very small amount of salted fish is added, it is just tasty enough. The fried wanton is nice too. But quite fatting. continue reading

There are numerous branches of this famous Pontian Wanton Noodles stall scattered around the island. I have previously tried it at Heeren where it was at the fifth level a few years back before it has closed down. This is my second time trying out this noodles. First thing first, their noodles are really unlike the normal thin wanton noodles which has a strong alkaline taste. These noodles are more springy and qq, and do not have this alkaline taste. Of course, I love the seasoning that goes with the noodles, which is the signature black sauce and I also requested for chili to be added to up the shiok factor of the noodles. As for the ingredients wise, it is just average in my opinion. The ingredients are really quite pathetic - the char siew slices are thin and minimal. However, until I can concoct a similar tasting noodles at home, I would still buy it for the yummy noodles. continue reading
