Esplanade mall is currently having a weekday 1 for 1 promotion on their set lunches till end September! I rarely have the chance to eat peranakan food and so decided to try this restaurant! The lunchtime deals included a choice of chicken drumlet rice set, pork rice set, beef rice set or fish rice set. The Pork Rice set consist of babi assam, sambal prawn, nyonya chap chye and crispy mermaid fish. The Beef Rice set consist of beef rendang, sambal prawn, nyonya chap chye and crispy mermaid fish. Both rice set comes with a side serving of achar, which was very nice till I finish the whole bowl! It makes a perfect combination with the crispy papadum! The next table ordered a chicken drumlet rice set and the chicken was huge! When I saw it being served, I kind of regret not ordering that instead! After we were done with our main, they serve us a bowl of bubur terigu as dessert. We only managed to finish half of it as it was mostly filled with ice and the syrup was too sweet, does not taste like bubur terigu at all! Overall, the food may be of average quality but the ambience here makes up for it. It had a very traditional peranakan decor feel to it and the restaurant is very spacious and clean! continue reading

This is a nonya food restaurant located in esplanade, and within walking distance from marina square. We tried the fried calamari - portion was quite little but it was quite well deep fried, crispy and not too oily. The otah on the other hand is a little too tough, and not too flavourful. The nonya chap chye was alright, it was served in a claypot and the gravy goes well with rice. Overall I think the bill totaled $40+ for 2 people. continue reading

This is really quite ordinary. The only thing that was good was the poppadum that they served at the start, which tasted really good dipped into their sambal belacan. We ordered nonya chap chye, pork The chap chye was more like the cabbage served at economy food stalls than anything particularly peranakan. The pork was tender but quite blend Food served quite fast but food was just ordinary Overall i rate 5/10 continue reading

After a movie at Marina Square, my friends and i were hungry and we decide to have dinner. We went to Esplande and we saw this perandakan restaurant and decided to give it a try. When we entered the restaurant, we saw a photo of our PM and his wife and also MM's brother picture proudly displayed at the cashier. Price wise, i think quite reasonable, service is pretty okie. continue reading
