Fulfilling lunch.

Song fa has recently expanded their business, with a new shophouse that's opened several units down from the original. This new one now has aircon, which is great news as it relieves us from the heat of Singapore's weather.To begin with, there are 2 distinct forms of Bak Kut Teh, the black herbal ones and the clear peppery ones. To begin with, there are 2 distinct forms of Bak Kut Teh, the black herbal ones and
the clear peppery ones. Songfa belongs to the latter category. There could be only one word to describe it: delicious. The soup's pepper level is just nice and warms your tummy in a fulfilling way.

I requested for the lean pig trotters and though of course they weren't 100% lean, they were still good. Fragrant, flavorful, tender that fell off the bone easily with little effort. No doubt I'll definitely return here for more.

We felt like having some piping hot Bak Kut Teh to complete the cold and rainy day.Since we're around at Boat Quay area, why not give Song Fa a try ?We ordered Bak Kut Teh, Braise Peanut, YouTiao and Braised Pig Throttle.Service was exemplary as they were really fast on serving our food.We were quite impressed by the infrastruture as theres a tap beside each table (For washing your hands Or for chinese tea? We ordered Bak Kut Teh, Braise Peanut, YouTiao and Braised Pig Throttle.
Service was exemplary as they were really fast on serving our food.

As for the dish - Bak Kut Teh. Quite disappointing as we could taste heavy MSG being added. The MSG poisoning made my meal rather unpleasant (As i'm rather sensitive to it). Didnt request for any addition soup (Which mean their broth failed).

I love my youtiao to be soaked in the Bak Kut Teh. Since the soup wasnt really ideal, it's just plain normal you tiao to me( and it's a lil cold & hard).

Braised peanut was quite bland.Salted Veg was average.

Pig Throttle - Quite disgusted from the overflow of fats. I've requested for leaner meat but I could barely find any lean meat. It wasnt braise to a good degree as well. Rather bland. We barely swallowed down half of it.

Overall, quite a disaster.
There are aplenty of better Bak Kut Teh elsewhere.

    Songfa just recently open an outlet three door beside their main store. Hence, there's no more waiting outside for the seats. The newly outlet is cooler than the main outlet. In song fa, you can order 2 type to mix. However, the portion is very small. We tried to order the pig tail mixed with pig kidney. There's only 3 small piece of pig kidney and 4 small pig tail (about 2-3cm long)We also order the pig liver to eat. It's not too hard and not "bleeding" as well. Their "tou ki" i found a bit ove

    I was walking around the Clarke Quay area on a cold and drizzling morning after running some errands when I remembered about Song Fa Bak Kut Teh so I made my way across to New Bridge Road where I found a seat quickly and ordered the standard pork ribs with a bowl of ribs. I also added a side order of you tiao.When it arrived, I quickly dug into them, the tender meat coming off the bones easily. After finishing the rice, I used the pieces of you tiao to mop up any remaining soup. What a great meal to warm myself up on a cold day!
