I was craving for the Mala Fried Chicken so I dragged my best friend to Susan Chan for lunch. She ordered an additional sambal kang kong. I believe the Mala Fried Chicken needs no introduction. Ok to the main point.. i went there with some of my colleagues and was recommended this thing called the saled egg sauce fried chicken with rice... At first i was afraid.. i was petrified... as i did not want to try out much of this unusual stuff. But following my own instincts, i tried it anyways.

I was definitely not disappointed! They has some awesome stuff going on there. Forget the chicken first. The rice was fantastic! I mean you could taste the individual grain in its wholesome value!

Then comes the chicken and the sauce! It goes really well with the rice! I liked the slight tinge of sweet and salty!

Ambience: Very nice but busy!

Staff: Super friendly!

The price you pay for a meal in town is no joke. If you work or live here, you could easily spend $15-$20 in a day for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Yikes!Lucky for us all, there's Far East Plaza, which houses some of the cheaper food stalls in town. Susan Chan is one my favourites, and I love their variety of dishes. One comfort food choice I have is the Beef Stew Rice / "Mui Fan". The portion's pretty huge for $5. It's not too salty, the gravy is just right and the consistency is perfect.

I wanted to order the Stired Fried Hor Fun. However, I was told that the Hor Fun has been fully sold. Hence, I ordered the Yang Chow Fried Rice.

The sambal chilli at the side resembles that of the chilli given for nasi lemak.

The Yang Chow Fried Rice was decently fried. Flavourful and tasty. The fact that this stall is located in Orchard gives it a more positive brownie points. Where else can you find such cze char stall in Orchard (a prime area) selling these dishes at this type of price. The price is totally comparable to our heartland coffeeshop prices.

i like the zi char at susan chan. I will always head there for a meal when I am in the area. This time round I tried their sambal kang kong. It was pretty good! the kang kong is cooked perfectly. The stem area is very crunchy and juicy. the sambal is not too spicy as well. It is not too oily nor is it not too dry. the sambal has some sweetness making it very nice to eat. Their sambal kang kong is indeed a must order.

We decided to order their pineapple rice in large size and one zi char dish. After scanning through the menu, we decided to try out their ma la fried chicken. It was something new to me, never heard or tried such a dish. The pineapple rice was very fragrant, it was cooked perfectly and tasted really tasty. but I have to comment on the ma la fried chicken. The chicken tasted like those Taiwanese ji pa. the outside is very crispy while the meat inside is tender and juicy. The sauce they topped on the chicken is very unique. It tasted a little like the gong bao kind but had a more sourish taste. It was pretty hot as the chef fried it with chilli padi. The sauce goes absolutely well with the pineapple rice. it was a little too saltish to be eaten on its own. It was really good, a must try when you are here.

I was walking around far east with my girlfriend when we got really hungry. We headed here for some food. I ordered their yang Zhou fried rice to share as it was near dinner time. Apparently this place is quite crowded but we did not have to wait long for our food to be served, but it was quite hard to get the waitress attention though.

I cannot remember where I got this amazing dish from! But there is a see through window in the shop and it sells thai food. I love this pinapple fried rice with pork floss. it tastes really good! The pineapple cube totally opened my appetite and it really satisfied me. I think it costs $4 but it definitely worth it! Rich in taste , yummy and delicious. I like it a lot!
