A new restaurant which has opened just on top of the mrt station. It offers fish steamboat in stone pot which is quite unique. The restaurant is quite simple in decoration. It is interesting to see quite a number of tourists in this restaurant.We are shown to a table with the stone pot in the centre of the table. The pot is unremovable. A new restaurant which has opened just on top of the mrt station. It offers fish steamboat in stone pot which is quite unique.
The restaurant is quite simple in decoration. It is interesting to see quite a number of tourists in this restaurant.
We are shown to a table with the stone pot in the centre of the table. The pot is unremovable. The table is next to the row of fish tanks, where one can select the seafood for meal. Best do not sit at this table because the fish tends to be very active and one could get hit by the water easily.
After placing our order, the staff heats up the pot and cleans it with a towel.
For drinks, we have Green Tea 绿茶 ($2.20), Lemon Barley 柠檬薏米 ($2.20), Lime Juice 酸柑汁 ($2.20), Shen Hua 神花茶 ($2.80), and Homemade Herbal Tea 自制凉茶 ($2.20). The Homemade Herbal Tea is the best choice being refreshing and cooling. We have an interesting time with the Lime Juice where the aunty keeps asking if we want it hot or cold. Where got people drinks hot lime juice. Anyway it is very sweet and very yellow in colour. Shen Hua tea looks and tastes like Ribena to me.For the mains, we have fish in 2 different flavours as some of us don't take spicy food.
Sea Bass ($30/ Middle) 金目鲈鱼（中） + Black Bean PasteThe black bean paste soup is not bad and quite drinkable. But there is not much meat on the fish.
Catfish ($35/ Large) 鲶鱼（大） + 麻辣 Spicy SauceCompare to the sea bass, the catfish tastes much better being more tender and smooth. We order the soup to be less spicy so that why it is not so red and oily. Besides the above 2 flavours, there also other flavours such as Hot & Spicy, Sauerkraut Taste, Original Flavour and Duo Jiao Taste.
Assorted Vegetables ($3 to $4.80)After finishing the fish, we order Handmade Noodle 手工面 ($3) and some vegetables such as Enoki Mushrooms金针菇 ($3.80), Fresh Spinach鲜菠菜 ($3), Melon冬瓜 ($3), Potato土豆 ($3), Tofu豆腐 ($3), Lotus Root莲藕 ($3), Seaweed海带 ($3) to add into the remaining soup. For those who must have their plain rice 米饭, each bowl costs $0.80 here. The vegetables are blanched before serving and looks quite small in serving.
For Appetizers, we have
炸金针菇 Fried Golden Mushrooms ($5.80)This is a very addictive dish, which we keep eating non stop. Just wish to have some beer to go with it. It tastes hint of 5 spice powder and curry powder.
虾仁咸蛋豆腐 Beancurd with Salted Egg & Prawns ($10)The salted egg sauce is well made here and very tasty.
夫妻肺片 Sliced Beef and Tripe in Chilli Sauce ($6.80)The meat is well flavoured and tender.
口水鸡 Mouth Watering Chicken ($5.80)Similar to the Sliced Beef and Tripe in Chilli Sauce, it is tender and well flavoured.
酸辣凉粉 Hot & Spicy Bean Jelly ($4.80)It tastes like smooth Kuay Teow in spicy sauce.
Overall the food is average, maybe we have too high expectation before coming. Before leaving, the staff has told me that the restaurant will be having a 1-for-1 fish steamboat the next day onwards. It means that for 1 order of fish steamboat, you have a free order on the following visit.
