Phat Thai Talay = Phat Thai with seafood was flavourful as it mixes well with the lime/chilli powder etc. very authentic tasting

Khao Gai Phat Krapow = Rice with stir-fried spicy minced chicken with Thai basil , I loved the chicken, full of flavour, I wished there were more white rice to pair off with! tender flavour and appetizing.

Woon Sen Kaeng Chued Luk Ngaw = Glass noodle with chicken tang hoon ball in soup caught my attention due to the funny big ball of tanghoon and meat! it was light and refreshing. menu states it's only for kids, but I guess it's for the kid inside me.

Location : Bugis+ is a nice place to windowshop and easy walking distance to neighbouring bugis junction / bugis village etc

Thai Rice Cracker served with Special ThaiExpress Creamy Chicken and Shrimp Sauce
Khoa Tang Naa
$7.90

Firstly, the Rice Cracker was still crispy despite being aired for some time due to the overwhelming photo-taking session of the food. I was surprised the crackers were still crispy though it has been served like almost half hour ago.

Paired it with the special ThaiExpress Creamy Chicken and Shrimp Sauce gave the plain-looking crackers an additional taste of creamy and sweetness. It wasn't spicy at all. Small chicken chunks were found as well, thus you'll be able to eat the sauce and chicken with the rice crackers. But honestly, the special thing of this dish has to be the in-house special sauce that caught my appetite.

Thai-style DIY Minced Chicken and Dry Kway teow Salad
Kway Teow Lui Suan
$9.30

Similar to Korean BBQ style, simply hold on to a slice of lettuce, pick up a slice of kway teow and filled it with the minced chicken. As the name suggests, this is like a DIY style where you prepare your every bite with the ingredients provided to you.
I love the minced meat because it's not only juicy and tender, the sauce was great enough to make the minced meat really moist and smooth. This isn't spicy as well.

Deep-fried Minced Crab Meat and Chicken Cake with Plum Sauce
Poo Cha
$10.40

Generously filled with minced crab meat and chicken, a bite of it was good enough for me to chew on the prominent crab and chicken meat. The don't fluff you with the flour and anything, but you'll really find real crab meat within the fried skin. Topped with fried egg shreds and paired with their special plum sauce, it can't get any better.

I would like to make a special mention to the plum sauce, because it gives a very appetizing tangy taste to the fried cake, which normal fried meat cake can be a little dry and you'll find yourself not finishing the side dish. For this case, the plum sauce saves the world.

Crispy Tom Yum Chicken Wing
Tom Yum Peek Gai
$8.30

Drizzle the lemon juice over the chicken wings, that's the thing you ought to do if you order this. The lemon juice complements the wings so well because the sourness appetizes me a lot, despite my already full stomach.

Steamed Sweet Potato with Coconut Milk
Mun Cheam
$5.30

At first I really thought this is a plate of papaya -_-
But little did I expect sweet potato can resemble so much like papaya.
Drizzled with coconut milk on top of the sliced sweet potato, it sure is my favourite for the whole meal.

Overall, the quality of the food served here was great. The speed was alright too and they didn't keep us waiting for very long.
Drop by thaiexpress for some good thai food.
Head over to my blog for more dishes at ThaiExpress.

Did you know that Thai Express have steamboat? I was shocked to see a banner outside their restaurant advertising the "Wickedly Spicy" steamboat. I had a Tom yam fish soup set for $8.90. It was delicious! When you mention Tom Yam, a red chilli coloured soup naturally comes to mind. But at Thai Express, the Tom Yam Soup is clear! The intial taste was really sour. It literally spiked into my taste sensory buds. But soon it was calmer and I am in love with it! The soup was well balanced. The spicy and sour taste was maintained by plums and chilli padi. The mushroom was well cooked. The fish and prawns were alright.

Chilli is my favourite. It comes with a dessert - sweet tapioca, which my friends do not like. I ate half of it partly because i was full and also because one piece of tapioca is rather hard (i only ate the soft one).

It was a rainy day and we had some crave for Tom Yam soup while shopping at Illuma.
There was no specific Thai restaurant which I can recall of except for Thai express in the Vicinity.

Therefore we decided on Thai express for dinner.
We were greeted with a great smile before the waiter show us to our seat.

Since it was my birthday month, I signed up for their Membership card for $30 which comes with:
1 x $10 Regular Voucher
1 x $15 Birthday month voucher
1 x 1-For-1 Maincourse Voucher(For use on Mon-Thurs only)

and 1 x free drink of your choice upon signing up + 10% Discount on bill.

Sounds like a great deal isn't it?

For the food Menu, we ordered our our usual Curried Soft Shell Crab w/ Rice. ($10.90++)
Great standard as usual. Gravy was nice and crabs are clean fried to perfection.

Sanook Set $8.90++
Great value - Comes with 2 pieces of fried tofu w/fishcake paste, Tom Yum Seafood Soup, Rice and a Tapioca dessert. Soup was good as usual, the rest are rather decent.

Fried Fire Noodle (Or something)
Beware! This noodle is extremely hot and spicy!
They are serve with dried chili flake and peanut by the side.
If this is the first time you are having this, try if you can take the normal noodle before considering to stir all the condiments into the noodles.
Well fried and seasoned - You'll appreciate this if you can take chili well (I mean especially well!)

Drinks:
Avocado Milk Shake
Listed as their recommended drinks. Extremely freshening with the heavy thai food.
Scent of avocado well blended with milk and fine ice. Must try.

Desserts:
Chendol
Their recommended deserts: Not your usual chendol with coconut milk over ice and sugar syrup.
Their chendol are ice blended with coconut milk (and skim milk I think). Thus it's not so 'jelut'. No red beans, but instead a kind of thai red pearl with a crunchy feel.
The ice blended are then added with Jackfruit slice for a tint of mild jackfruit fragrance.
Impressive chendol. If only they serve Gula Melaka here the chendol will be 10/10 for me.
But now I guess they deserve a 8.5/10 at least .

That is not all, I am extremely impressed by their warm hospitality and service.
Manager and crew were very friendly. Instead of the usual attentiveness you expect, they're chatty and they'll crack jokes with you and the impression make you feel that you're their long lost friend!

Best part of all - As I stood up, preparing to leave the restaurant after I paid the bills, all the crews focus their attention onto me and called my name to wish me a happy birthday!
The manager then handed me a surprise birthday gift with compliment from thaiexpress.

What a memorable experience.
