Located at Hotel Fort Canning, this beautiful enclave made of glass overlooks the luscious surroundings of greenery that one finds in the countryside despite being so closed to townWhat sells at The Glass House is more of the ambience. It is hard to find such a setting in Singapore. With fashionably designed hotel rooms, it makes a perfect excuse for a staycation. The finger foods are exclusive too. It’s a nice place and a nice hotel though which is always a bonus. The place was empty when we arrived at 3pm, and in fact, it was my first time being asked 'who are you looking for' when I enter a restaurant instead of something more welcoming, especially when I have already done my reservation. Satay ($10 for 6 sticks) - Terribly nice! We had chicken among the choice of beef or pork and it was all lean and tender with just the right amount of grill-ness. But it adds up to about $1.60per stick, it better be. continue reading

i always enjoy having continental breakfast. Was looking through the buffet list and noticed that Fort canning hotel serve breakfast buffet at a reasonable price. I tried on the next day. Its about 10mins walk from dhoby ghaut station. The hotel looks grand. THE GLASS HOUSE is located outside of the hotel, at a corner. The ambiance is good. Quiet and simple. It provides newspaper for diner (place at restaurant reception). Doesn't have wide variety of food, but for the price we paid ( about $30nett for a Sunday), it's consider quite a good deal. Quality of food, average. But their pancakes are nice! Service is good. The waiter and chef are very friendly. continue reading

Twilight fans would just love this new restaurant at Hotel Fort Canning. It's very similar to Edward Cullens' house wherein the walls are made of glass and so, it overlooks the treetops and nature outside. But it's not the Cullen's house. It's Hotel Fort Canning's latest restaurant which serves local favourites with a modern twist. One example is the Thai style Bolognaise Pizza, which is topped with prawns, onions, coriander pesto, and bits of chili padi. I like that the crust was so thin so one slice or two slices won't make you feel stuffed. I also tried their Chicken Curry. Yes, it's spicy but not the kind which would make your eyes watery and would make you feel sick. It's very tasty and it has just the right amount of curry. They have many other local dishes on their menu, which are quite affordable for a restaurant like Glass House. continue reading
