Introduction
Stepping into a Wan Chai HongKong Tea Room is like being transported instantaneously to the lively cosmopolitan city of Hong Kong. Service staff bustling to and from patrons, taking orders and serving up freshly prepared, steaming hot food and beverages amidst the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and crisp toast. In harmonizing contrast to this flurry of activity are the feature wall panels of soothing earthy shades with complementing furniture of solid tables and chairs or invitingly plush sofa seats, all of which serve to decorate the well-lit and airy alcove. continue reading

Wan Chai is one of the stalls in the famous NTU canteen 1. But due to recent renovations it is no longer in NTU. Wan Chai provides affordable HK food. Though the prices is slightly higher than the other stall's, it served not only noodle dishes but also western. One of my favourite is the Chicken and Mushroom Baked Rice. They are generous with the cheese and ingredients which provides a very filling meal. continue reading

Hubby and i went to ntu to fetch our daughter home, after buying dinner from the jap stall in canteen 1, we decided to get a drink before heading home. My daughter recommended us the iced milk tea from wan chai. Apparently there was ice cream added to the milk tea. It was pretty good as the ice cream gave the milk tea a creamier taste. The tea was very fragrant, it is not taste like the normal teh peng you buy from coffee shop. i was observing them make the tea, apparently they did not add a lot of condensed milk, so i guess it was not so fattening. however it was a little pricey, just for a tiny cup, it cost us $2.20. the ice cream was kind of soft but it tasted very creamy and milky, not too sweet. the drink did not taste very sweet probably by the time we got back home the ice had melted, which was a good thing. i think this drink is unique to ntu's wan chai, dun recall seeing this drink in the menu of other branches. continue reading

I went to ntu canteen 1 to have dinner with my friend. We decided to try the western food stall. it happened to be owned be wan chai as well. I ordered their fish and chips. It was not bad, the fish was deep fried till very crispy. the fish itself was very fresh. It came with baked beans, coslaw and French fries. I like the coslaw the best, the vegetables are not cut too finely. The dressing they use is very light and refreshing. The baked beans are rather nice, sweetish. I like the French fries as well. They are the thick thick kind. Crispy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. continue reading

This is a must try food for wan chai.It is highly recommended by the tea room.It served with fresh mussel, thick salmon, and large juicy prawn. The cheese is very nice..!Those topping are added generously. The rice is very soft and flavourful. The combination of the ingredient, cheese and rice is perfect. It is really nice..!The pizza is quite nice..! The bread is really good.Although the ingredient is just like the normal one,but it still very tasty. The side part of the bread is very crispy, but it is abit too thick.I prefer thinner one.The dessert is very attractive. Can see the choco brownie muffin. It is very nice.I like the wetness of the muffin. If eat with ice cream,it taste nicer. And the almond also increase the tastiness. But this is not recommend for those who dont like sweet, because it is very sweet. continue reading

My girlfriend and I decided to have our dinner at ntu hall of residence 1 canteen. I tried the wan chai the fish and chips. It was rather disappointing. The piece of fish was really thin and it was very dry. when deep fried, it became even more dry. the coslaw was quite delicious, very refreshing. The fries were those thick kind and the baked beans were really good. really large though. Too bad the main star of the dish was not so good. continue reading
