I had a $2 Ya Kun voucher to consume. I visited the branch at Orchard Central at Level 5 as I was in Orchard. As the store was not located at prominent location such as MRT station, the store was quiet and clean. There were only few customers. The store was spacious and well decorated with history of Ya Kun. If diner likes to watch the Orchard Street, there are window seat and round table for a group of 6 for discussion. There are high seater or the cushion sofa seat. The ambience was excellent. I ordered Toast Cheese with Kaya. When the bread was served to me, the bread was warm and the cheese was not fully melted. If the bread is well toasted and with the heat, add the slice of cheese, I would think the aroma and taste of the cheese will be greatly enhanced. It can be considered was a mini pizza. Anyway, the toast served to me was still alright but it was my expectation was not met to 100%. continue reading

Always been having their signature coffee and toast breads here, and this is my first time buying their new product: Kaya butter cookies here. For merely $2.50 per packet, the price is reasonable and the packaging looks neat and attractive. The counter lady is very friendly and greeted me 'good-bye' when I leave the shop. The cookies is full of the butter flavour and is very crunchy and firm in texture. With the little portion of their signature kaya filling in the center of every pieces taste really special and quite blend in well. Yummy! continue reading

Don't know how the soft-boiled eggs can be cooked to such perfection but they are each time I order them. Looking at the tables of the people around me, I guess Ya Kun has perfected its art of egg-boiling. I have my soft-boiled eggs with a cup of coffee C (Coffee with carnation milk to the uninitiated) and it makes for a good afternoon break. Thick and aromatic, that's how coffee should be. continue reading

i went there last weekend, went during dinner time & was quite surprise that it was full housethey do have some seat available but the staff didn't not clean/tidy but lucky we found one seat & we just clean the table ourselves i wanna order their kaya butter toast but i saw wrongly, below the peanut kaya it show "it include a cup of tea/coffee & egg" so i thought only the peanut kaya set come with tea & egg,so ended i ordered thatTea was nice, egg was normal, but the peanut kaya was a bit weird, not a good combination . I prefer butter kaya more. Service was not very good as they won't auto clean the table. Also we were dining in but the bread was packed inside a paper bag instead of being served on a plate. continue reading

the coffee here is alright. not too bad. not too acidic and not too bitter. nice on a cold raining day. the service is rather slow and disorganised and you basically have to self-service or wait a long time for your food. goes well with their toast. don't really fancy any of their other stuff as it's not very up to standard. but their coffee and toast are passable. their eggs are pretty good too. more expensive than other places but the quality is not better than other places. continue reading
