Had lunch at this ever crowded Makan Place. Ordered this Yong Tau Foo at what seems to be a half crowded stall. Little did I know the queue is separated; one for order, one for waiting for food. Anywayz, there's this freaking unfriendly auntie that served me when I tried to order a mix noodle (i.e Yellow noodles with kuay teow). Apparently you can't order mixed at this stall, but there's no sign about this.Didn't care much about that when the food came. NOMNOMNOM was it GOOD! Fried items were fried crisp and separated from the soup, noodles was quite nicely cooked. (al. dente-ly Q) What I felt lacking was the curry, I feel it's just chilli oil over a thin spicy broth. Could be improved. (*Hint Hint more coconut milk ) continue reading

Got to try their chilli with fishcake today, it was not as good as expected though I still love their yong tau foo. The chilli was not as fresh and there just was not much taste to it but the fish cake within it was tender and juicy. Their fried bean curd smells really great and is realy crispy! continue reading

The thing I love about this stall is the price. At 40 cents a piece, it's quite a real steal compared to the ones available outside. There are many varieties available, vegetables, fried items and the usual fish balls, tofu, beancurds. Their fried yam is not to be missed! Do not be fooled by the outlook of their chilli sauce. It is just slightly spicy, if you can take chilli sauce, this is nothing to you. Fresh ingredients at such affordable prices for students, no wonder a queue is always present! continue reading

One of my favourite stalls at Makan Place Cheap and nice yong tau foo ... We usually order 8 to 10 pieces of ingredients and top up 40 cents to 50 cents for carbo food such as bee hoon, kway teow and rice. This would usually cost $4 to $5. Worthy for a sumptuous meal ! The stall owners are usually friendly and prompt in service too. They would 'automatically' fried those items like you tai, brown skin bean curd and separated from the other dishes. If you do not wish to have those items fried again - rem to inform the stall owners before hand. The soup base is broiled from yellow beans which gives it a light and sweet flavour. Do try its home-made chilli sauce! continue reading
