As you enter Newton Food Centre, you'll immediately be confronted with a whole row of stalls selling all sorts of foods.

At first, my ex-colleague and me are at a loss as don't know what to eat. We then walked pass this stall and decided to order it for our lunch.

Therefore, I went to find our own table and helped her to bring the 鸭饭套餐 (Duck Rice Set) over from the stall.

Honestly, I really do not know how they can cook their chilli because the taste is a bit different from other stalls.

I like tenderly braised duck with a very savoury gravy sauce that enhanced the taste more than chicken. I like both braised and roasted duck. Soup is herbal based.

If you have not tried the allure of cheap hawker food, please visit Yu Kee Duck Rice (友记鸭饭)Newton Food Centre during lunch time because it is not-so-crowded hawker centre and it is highly recommended to try their duck rice, which is value for money.

Tips: Braised 鸭翅膀 duck wings are very good with beer, duck heads and necks too.

$4 signature set meal is my choice of lunch at this not-so-crowded hawker centre. What you get is yam rice, duck meat, tau kuah, half an egg,6 peanuts and a bit of kiam chye. Always remember to try out the chilli provided which includes anchovies inside but less the oil. if the queue and crowd permits, spend some time fishing the floating anchovies Soup is herbal based, but pretty much standard yukee style.

Tried You Ji's duck rice today and i like it alot. The rice is full of taste and it's soft. Other than that, the duck meat is soft and tender. Plus, it's not very oily. If you dont' really like to eat duck rice, you can try this because the duck meat is sliced into small stripes and it's not as hard to chew.I love the packaging alot though, haha. I think it's quite innovative to step out of the usual styrofoam packaging and it can helps to keep the food warm too.If you haven't try youji's duck ri

It has been one of my famous duck rice for a while. There are quite a few stalls under this brand name island wide. For a set, you will get a reasonable portion of duck meat, tau kwa, braised egg and braised peanuts with savory sauce over it. Rice was nicely moist. Their chilli was one of the best that i ever tasted, the spiciness is well balanced. The soup that served along got a light herbal taste which i like.If you do not want rice, they do have noodle too. Highly recommended.
