After been to Shokudo once, I thought it was a great place to celebrate my sis' bdae so off we went, even though we had to queue for an hour (it was a Friday). After been to Shokudo once, I thought it was a great place to celebrate my sis' bdae so off we went, even though we had to queue for an hour (it was a Friday).

My initial impression was that it was the Japanese version of Marche, where there are several stalls selling different kind of Japanese food and all you need is a card to record your purchases at the different stalls. At the end of your meal, just proceed to the counter to pay for everything. Simple as that.

The best thing at Shokudo which I must say is the value for money range of Japanese food. One will be spoilt for choices and there are times when I seriously can't make up my mind what to eat. Thus the birthday celebration was a great time for all of us to order something different each and share.

I simply love the skewers! One can choose from chicken wings to salmons, from quail eggs to prawns. They are simply delicious. For the main, guess I ordered something which was not as nice as I expected. It was a kind of Jap beef with rice and everything else (forgotten the name) and after the first whiff of the food, I thought with horror "Why was there a weird smell??". Around the table, everyone agreed and they even asked me to check with the chef. Well, not wanting to make a fuss, I tried to finish the whole bowl (with the help of some curry) and swearing never to order that again!

Nevertheless, it has always been a nice experience at Shokudo. Both my bf and I like the non-pricey range of Jap food and the warm atmosphere there so much, we even signed up for the membership. Now we have another favourite hangout makan place where we can earn rebates. Definitely worth it!
