For me, this is not the first time I stepped foot into Ambush. Their outlet at Jurong Point is my favourite place to have a simple dinner with my friends and family, to catch up and meanwhile, enjoying good food. This time, I am very honoured to be invited by OpenRice to be a part of the food tasting session! Actually, I have been to this very new outlet @ Plaza Singapura a few weeks ago. Actually, I have been to this very new outlet @ Plaza Singapura a few weeks ago. I tried the squid ink pasta with seafood which the Jurong Point outlet does not have (if i remember correctly), and it was fabulous! I was quite afraid to order that dish as the black ink seemed intimidating to me. However, I did not regret my choice and really enjoyed every "strand" of pasta! (sorry I dont have a picture for this.) This time round, I get to try Coq Au Vin, which is chicken cooked with red wine and some vegetables. I must admit, I myself is quite a wine-lover hence the choice of Coq Au Vin. The red wine gravy was very much strong and rich taste and compliments with the chicken which is also well-cooked. Overall, I feel that this dish is a must try!
The OpenRicers shared the mussels pot and pork knuckles during the food tasting session. I personally like the pork knuckles more, as I have tried the mussels pot at the other outlets. The pork knuckles comes with mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables. The pork was crispy on the outside and the meat was tender enough. And I have to say, Ambush always makes the best mashed potatoes. Two sets of mashed potatoes were whipped clean in minutes! Aside from their food, I think their new location @ Plaza Sing is quite good and would be able to attract more people to come. I will definitely come back for their squid ink pasta and coq au vin! )
