Had dinner at this restaurant at 313 Somerset level 1. I realised that this Italian restaurant actually started from Indonesia.Oh we were served free Bruschetta before our 2 main courses (pasta) came. We wonder if it was because we expressed our dismay when the waiter put us to a miserable tiny 2-seater, whereas other customers who were in pairs got to sit at a table meant for 4.
The 1st pasta that came was some spicy penne, cooked al dente. Think it's called Penne All Arrabbiata. My friend found it too tough, & requested the kitchen to recook it so tat it's softer. She still din quite like it aft it was recooked. I was fine with the "toughness" as I had eaten such style b4, but it was the spice they used that I find it weird. Not really to my liking too.
We were almost finishing our spicy penne but our 2nd pasta had still not arrived. So we called the waiter & asked her to check. Shortly, we were given this delicious chocolate mudpie instead as an apology for the long wait, which was a bit odd timing given that we haven't even finished our main courses! That aside, the mudpie was really good! Heehee...
The finale dish finally got on our table after we finished the mudpie! It's their daily special that evening (but sorry I can't remember the name). Basically it is tortellini stuffed with cheese & soaked in creamy cheese sauce. Sounds very cheesy ya? ;) We took the pic before we sunk our teeth into it, so you can see that the portion really didn't look that big right? But oh man, it was very filling, as it's too full of cheese! Nonetheless, it was a very good dish & we had trouble finishing it in the end since we finished the mudpie before this.
The bill came to a total of about $35, guess it was quite value for $. The service at this restaurant needs improvement though. They shouldn't just be stuffing more free food to us in compensation of mediocre service standards. We also kinda regretted ordering 2 pasta instead of trying their pizza as well for variety. So maybe next time, we will try their pizzas which look quite good too
