Went to Miz two weeks ago. This was my first time returning after its renovation last year. From the outside, Miz might appear as a humble 'local' Japanese eatery for its very affordably priced lucnh and dinner sets and popularity among local Japanese and office crowd.

Our dinner commenced with Salmon Tataki ($12), lightly seared fresh salmon fillet in appetizing vinegared seasoning.

Served in a tapas way, Gindara Miso Yaki ($15) came with three slices of black cod, each sitting elegantly on a throne made of lettuce leaf, crowned with crispy toppings. The amount of miso was just what this fine black cod rightfully deserved - sweet, flavoursome and melt-in-monthed savoury. Simply sublime~.

Highly recommended on the menu was this Cold Garlic Butter Udon with Caviar ($12). The heaviness of the butter was well balanced by the flavour of the minced garlic. No idea about what the caviar was there for besides contributing to the aesthetic merit of this dish. Overall, it was a great invention but priced on the high side, in my opinions.

As Miz is an izakaya, expect the noise level to go up during dinner time at its full capacity. That evening there were a few tables of Japanese diners, which was a good sign of authenticity. I will recommend this place to anyone who is looking to a scrumptious authentic Japanese meal without burning a hole in the wallet.
