I'm here at 5 Little Bears today!!! 5 Little Bears is basically a restaurant that aims to bring Taiwan delights closer to Singaporeans with classics like Braised Pork Belly Rice, Oyster Omelet and Chicken Cutlet (that models after Hot-Star/Shihlin's taste) - if you're thinking of popping by one day to check it out, maybe you want to consider reading my take on this place to save yourself a trip. I went straight to ordering their signature dish 鲁肉饭 - Braised Pork Belly Rice ($4.90). It's quite a big bowl. You can get a drink if you topped up $0.90.

Comparing it with the one I had in Taiwan (Jiufen).. I would say that it is not a fight at all, it is a far cry and much different from the "authentic" local one. So I shall not comment about comparing them any further - they are pretty much two different things.

5 Little Bears version of this dish is mediocre, and not very impressive but not inedible either. It can fill you right up with its pretty large serving, complete with half an egg and vegetables for a balanced meal. The rice is also a little soggy from being overcooked. In general, it is really just average. If you're in the area and you've an insatiable craving for this dish then I suppose you can settle with this, but don't bother making a trip down just to try it out.

The ordering area. It's self-service and hence there is also no service charge.

They have 粉圆 and stuff like that on the menu but I was sad to be informed that their iced desserts are only available after 2pm (like why?! The blazing sun is up since 8am T_T) and that basically leaves only those boring warm desserts. There isn't a huge selection to begin with and I walked away with no desserts. So disappointed!
