Being the typical girl who watches her diet, I have my fat days as well. Whenever I feel like I need healthy food for a good detox, I would usually have fish soup. This stall was recommended to me by my boyfriend. Quite honestly, I was surprised. This stall was recommended to me by my boyfriend. Quite honestly, I was surprised. He never liked fish soup and two years of being together, he never once ordered it.
But this stall caused a revolutionary change in him.
What attracted him to it was the several media clippings and magazine features that were pasted all over at the front of the stall. He couldn't accept the fact that fish soup could really be that good. So he posed a challenge by getting a bowl of fried fish soup - just to be the food critic he usually is.
And guess what, he loved it.
So he told me about it and suggested I try it for myself.
Wow! I have tried lots of fish soup around Singapore and this has got to be one of the better ones. So much so, I can't even count the times I've patronize this stall.
The sliced fish is very tender and very fresh. Doesn't matter whether you have it in the morning or at night, the quality and freshness of the sliced fish is just as good.
Similarly, you can taste the freshness and feel the tenderness of the fried fish. One thing I must add about the fried fish however, is the inconsistency of the batter coating. There are times where the fish is evenly coated, without clumps of batter, and there are times where I find myself bitting into a large piece of what I thought was fish but turned out to be deep- fried batter.
I also think they should be more generous with the portions of fish slices. I can't even see the fish sometimes when I order fish soup. The soup completely cover the fish.
If you aren't too keen on fish soup, they also have hotpot that includes sliced fish, fried fish,, fishball, pork ball, crabstick, and a freshly knocked-in egg. I quite like this when I want some variety.
The soup that they serve all their dishes in is very tasty. They probably boil it with the fish all day to give it such a rich taste. Never have I once not finished my soup.
It's healthy and delicious. Who said healthy food had to taste bland? Certainly not them.
