My great grandfather used to be a hawker selling noodle along with the founder of Chai Keng Kway Teow right at Chai Keng before his retirement.
This is also one of the usual places that my grandfather brought me to eat breakfast when i was a kid. Eating here definitely brought back lots of fond memories.
No matter, 'Chai Keng Kway Teow Mee' is pretty addictive. The ingredients are one of the freshest that i ever tasted. For $2.50, you will get mushroom, fishball, slices of fishcake and lean meat. For $3.00, you will get an additional prawn.
But it is the powerful chilli that make it really good and different but with a well balanced of spiciness.
The assistant of this stall has a little attitude issue, he is a rather impatient and grouchy. He has a stern look and i actually do not remember seeing him smile before, so when you are making an order at this stall, you gotta be clear and precise.
The stall has rather irregular off day, so it very much depends on your luck if you want to eat there and it usually closed before 2pm.
