We browsed the menu on the display stand outside the newly opened Ramen Play Restaurant but decided to give it a miss as a meal there would cost at least $20 after service charge and GST. We browsed the menu on the display stand outside the newly opened Ramen Play Restaurant but decided to give it a miss as a meal there would cost at least $20 after service charge and GST. With flatter wallets after all the CNY splurging we walked further into the mall to Ramen Monster for our ramen fix. The Pork Curry Ramen ($8.90 nett ala carte) was surprisingly good. Concentrated toothsome curry gravy with generous slices of pork that had been braised in the homemade gravy and big chunks of carrot, white radish & potato which added fibre and sweetness to the dish. It is obvious that the curry was of wholesome homemade quality - unlike many Japanese restaurants like Ajisen and Ichiban whose curry had a grainy residue and bits of carrots and potatoes, indicating that the curry had been prepared using factory produced curry mixes. Curry chicken ramen is also available at the same price. We topped up $3 for the set meal which includes three pieces of panfried homemade gyoza and free flow of green tea or iced lemon tea from the self service drinks bar. There is no service charge here and all menu prices are GST-inclusive.
